I do not know how to preserve them, but they seem to keep shape for years from the molts that I do have.

You can do different crafts/displays with them. I am sure there are examples online!

Frame them
I want to, but I don't want it to rot inside the frame.

Yes, I dont believe water and soap would work because I want it dry and not to rot.

I wonder if has anyone tried salt, just like how they preserve flowers. I don't want to risk it will not work as expected.

Then resin

I would look into how people do insect taxidermy, I would imagine that a molt will preserve the same way that a whole spider would.

Toss them in a big jar. I think I'm gonna start leaving them on my office window sills

You can use soap and water to unfold and position the molt and then just let it dry out again. Once they dry out they will keep pretty well as they are. They don't really rot, it is more like an empty shell. You could certainly try preserving in resin, I think the only challenge with that is the hairs trapping air bubbles between the molt and the resin.

…thanks @IntermittentSygnal for always keeping me in the molt loool! By the way, I got a vendor booth at the oddities fair in Vallejo Ca in April! Thanks for that too ;)

Molts don’t rot, silly! ;) They are just dry and very fragile. If you use a certain crude method I semi-perfected a long time ago, you can frame a “tarantula cadaver” as well, but it’s kind of a lengthy process.
The best way to frame a mold, is to get it out of the tank ASAP after the spider is molting and spread it out while it is still limp and wet. Then wait, depending on the size of the spider up to maybe two weeks. And then it will be in the position that you want And it can be framed or used for other purposes. I forget which thread it was, but we had a long lengthy conversation somewhere in the watering hole about doing art with your molts or whatever. I’m gonna look for it and maybe tag it onto this post. It’s got some interesting stuff and some bad ass molts!!

If you want to know how I frame and preserve my dead Ts, send me a convo!!

Also, resin always seems to darken the colors of the Ts markings so, even though I never tried it, it seems unappealing to me.

Couldn’t find the web address but…
Look up the thread called “molt collection”

Sincerely,
