There are several blue(ish) Avics. In my humble opinion it's hard to beat an Avic. And what about purple?!!!

Yeah, there are many blue tarantulas...Many will suggest C. cyaneopubescens. They're more handleable than a lividium, that's for sure!

This is relative. {D The majority of GBBs won't attack to bite, but they'll sure as heck zip around like mad if someone so much as drops a pin in the next room. Also hair-kicking.

Yet another benefit of the Avics. These guys don't (as far as I've seen or heard of) kick hairs. They have urticating hairs but they don't ever give you a cloud of them. As backwards as this sounds, I'm more paranoid about catching a bunch of urticating hairs than I am getting bit. I've had itchy face before in the past and it's not too pleasant. Then again I've not been bitten by anything yet. My story may change down the road!

Yah, I think I'd need about 10 espressos to get me in gear before I would try to handle my GBB :p

I was also about to suggest avic's...but it seems the ones that are truly blue are juvie versicolor's and some of the more expensive ones. I apologize but I can't remember the exact species names of those. :?

The most handleable blue tarantulas I've got are my Avicularia avicularia and my now-deceased A. geroldi, plus I've got this little "Mystery" T I've had for years, that I bought as a Homoeomma sp. "blue", though I really don't think that's what she actually is. I'm leaning towards her being Thrixopelma pruriens, so she's more aqua than actual blue, but she is a sweetheart. My GBB is not that bad, actually, with regard to handling, but she's like a typical Reticulated Python-always hungry and assuming anything that moves is FOOD. I've got a blue-phase A. seemani, but she's absolutely psycho; if she didn't bite me she'd probably freak out and dive off of my hand at full speed, and either one would end badly for one of us. I've honestly never seen an A. seemani that I would consider "handleable". I don't know much about the temperament of Monocentropus balfouri, since I can't afford to even look at one, but I'd figure that being Old World T's, they might get a bit testy, though I've seen pics of them being handled. If they were pretty docile that would sure be a nice alternative for folks who want a blue species they could handle if need be, without too much risk(there's always SOME risk, no matter what the species)of getting bitten OR having to deal with urticating hairs, which for some people seem worse than T venom.

None of those are friendly, IMO. Especially seemani. {D

And to the TC, why are you so hung up on blue? There is a wonderful world of docile tarantulas out there, why not base your addition on some other qualities?

no, Singapore isnt friendly either
I would recommend Russian blue cat
but seriously there isnt real cuddly friendly and soft and purry
more less tolerable to handle is Grammostola aureostriata
but it isn't blue
good luck with ur search, Anastasia
