Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens adults and Avicularia versicolor slings are both blue and NOT OW. Owning an OW tarantula with your level of experience would be simply foolish.
Also, I've heard that H. lividum look almost black under normal lighting.

You know in my thread from today when I asked if there's any "wrong" reasons to get a T?

You just answered that question.

Get a green bottle blue if you want a blue T. It's BLUE and stays blue and isn't near as aggressive or quick.

You'll also see it much more. Webs are also much cooler than burrows if you ask me.

i gotta say although i agree with everyone saying an old world T is not the best to have if you have very little experience, but at some point your gonna need to leave your comfort zone. my 3rd T was a pokie been collecting for 5yrs no bites. Do lots and lots of research and you should be fine.

I beg to differ. That would be over-confidence/naivety, and that's an amazingly good way to sustain a bite. You also mentioned that yours sent you to the hospital and escape twice when YOU were 13, yet you recommend it to a 13 year old. Bad, bad logic.

I believe you'll be much happier with the GBB. They can be a step up from the G. rosea and B. smithi in your collection, but still very manageable for a beginner. I would give it awhile before you think about owning an Old World species, they are fast, mean and bites hurt. No matter how careful you are, they will eventually escape, and you will at times have to deal with them. All Old World tarantulas are fast enough to climb tongs and reach your hand before you can react. Additionally, I will point out as others have said, purchasing a tarantula for looks alone is a terrible idea. The most important things to consider when purchasing a new species is defensiveness, movement speed, venom potency, and difficulty of care. Color should be the last thing to consider, and purchasing a Cobalt Blue for their blue coloration without the proper respect and experience is very reckless and dangerous.

If you do your research and be prepared you will be fine. My second and third Ts were adult P. irminia and A. seemanni. They were given to me by a customer at the pet store where I worked. The P. irminia is wicked fast but I am super careful dealing with her and rehousing was easier because of it.

The one that gives me the most problems is the A. seemanni. And they are generally considered a good first T. So you just never know. I never put my hand in his cage, even if he is in his burrow. He will charge out of there. He kills paintbrushes, tongs, water, paper towels, the air...lol. His abdomen was completely bald from flicking hairs at who knows what. The way he acts an H. lividum would be a step down.

If you want one, you are going to get one eventually. Do your research, plan ahead, never let your guard down, give her lots of room to burrow and enjoy your lovely blue pet hole.

Youll be happy with a GBB I think. That would be my next T, except I can't find one in my price range! They aren't as easy to breed as other Ts from what I understand, so getting one is a bit of a treat :)

I've seen them for sale for around $35 for a sling. I've heard they grow fast, so the fact that it's a sling shouldn't matter too much.

A GBB would definitely be the better option as of right now. Their skittishness may be a good preparation for the H. lividum.

thanks, can you hold them
I recommend against handling tarantulas. I never do it.
GBBs are known to be fairly skittish, but I'm fairly sure they're more of hair kickers than biters. Either way, you'll have much more luck trying to handle one of them than a Haplo ;)

I have let many T's pass that ive shouldnt of. gbb is like a kitten compared to a cobalt lol I would get the cobalt just do research and be cautious I deal with GOBT's aka giant orange bitey thing aka king baboons there fun and exactly if not worst then a cobalt Xd

Because 1). none of my tarantulas are docile at all aside from my Avicularia spiderlings and 2). tarantulas are extremely fragile animals. I treat them like exotic amphibians or aquarium fish. Hands-off. I just see no reason for it and have no desire to even try it. They're amazing pets even without physical contact.
