I waited and tried everything possible. I'm sure I was still trying past it's time. I just now, not even 10minutes ago, cleaned her enclosure out....I kind of put it off with hopes of a miracle....no luck 😞

She was my best success in the beginning. As stated, the set up was stable and doing great. I was about to start adding my cleanup crew and a few plants..... Sorry for rambling.

All I can say is, if the spider is upside down, don't touch it. If something odd is happening , ask questions first. I knew all of this and made a mistake by not doing either. It's in no way about the money. When I personally take on a "pet", it's for life and I plan to provide the best care possible. I have a zoo at home and am an animal lover in general. It's just a family of animal lovers. So, my feelings for each of my spiders is similar to the feelings I have for my dogs, cats, geckos, on and on.

I guess that I hope that others that are in a questionable situation, ask for help before touching or intervening. All I really needed to do was jump on here and I would have had my answers in minutes. Most likely the outcome would have been different.

Side note, pretty sure this was a wild caught specimen as my store couldn't tell me her origination. I don't think I'm buying from them again. Only reputable online dealers will get my money.....

Thanks to everyone that replied. Her name was Debbie as she was sold to me as a T. blondii... I'm sorry Debbie and my heart aches with your loss....

Sorry for the novel guys...

Sadly most come here after they do something rather than before. But even if this saves 1 single tarantula after a Google hit it has been worth it.

So sorry for your loss. You've learnt a sore lesson that you'll never repeat, and my heart goes out to you, I wish it had turned out differently. I'm positive your thread will help others in a similar situation in the future though.

Just to clarify, in case anyone's wondering. I wouldn't normally advise flipping a t over that was moulting the wrong way up. In fact, I'd strongly advise against it.

However, this was different. The tarantula had been flipped over by the keeper, several of the legs were in a bad position, and it was failing to moult upright. By the amount of hours that had past, it was clearly well and truly stuck. It was worth at least trying to save at that time, as liquidfluidity had advised that the chelicerae & fangs were clear and there were some signs of life.

@liquidfluidity mourn your loss and put this down to harsh lesson learned. Don't let it put you off keeping tarantulas and don't beat yourself up more than you already have. We all make mistakes.

I'm awful sorry for your loss. I know that you said "live and learn" sounds harsh for this situation but that's just what you have to do in this hobby sometimes.

Thanks everyone for the sympathies, kind words, and information. Definitely a harsh learning experience. Hopefully others will learn from my mistake - just leave it alone.....
