I'm sure you saw my thread on how I lost my Nhandu colloratovillosis. I'm pretty bummed over it but I'm trying to be positive at the same time. Here's the one upside: I get to pick a new one to replace it! I have this deal with my fiance that I'm only going to have 15 total. I'm thinking about getting a P. metallica, P. rufilata, S. calceatum, or X. immanis. Give me two that you think would be the best addition to this collection:

M.F.U
0.1.0 Acanthoscurria geniculata- juvie female
0.0.1 Avicularia diversipes (fasciculata)-sling
0.1.0 Avicularia metallica- juvie
0.0.1 Avicularia versicolor-sling
0.1.0 Brachypelma albiceps- juvie female
0.1.0 Brachypelma boehmei - juvie female
0.0.1 Brachypelma vagans- juvie
0.0.1 Cyriocosmus elegans- baby- super tiny!
0.1.0 Haplopelma lividum- adult female
0.1.0 Heteroscodra maculata- juvie female
0.0.1 Lasiodora difficilis- baby
0.0.1 Poecilotheria miranda- juvie
1.0.1 Pterinochilus murinus mature male, baby

dude, the choice is obvious....get them all! there is no possible way to stop at 15. im tellingyou from experience. sooner or later you will base renting or buying yur next house on how many spare bedrooms it has for Ts.

but if you truely think you can stop at 15, then go with P. metallica, there gorgeous, rare, and an absolute show piece. cant go wrong with them. next choice for me would be X. immanis but that is me.

People that ask "which one should I get" and include a P. metallica among the choices need to have a bit of common-sense slapped into their heads. What do you think we are going to say??? "No, Get a rosehair instead...." :wall:

Thus the reason THAT spider shouldn't even be on that list. In fact, remove it (because you are going to get it anyway), and tell us to pick ONE from the three remaining choices. {D
(You do realize I'm playing around, right.....LOL)

My vote on the other one would be for the S. cal!!!!!
BOOYA!!!!

Tell me THAT's not beauty!!!!!

Haha. Yeah. You guys are totally right. I am going to get a P. metallica, no matter what. So let's pick from the other ones then, k? Here's what I'm thinking. I have a black and white pokie (miranda), will have a blue and yellow pokie (metallica), and thought a green and red one may just be what I need. Also. I have two baboons (maculata and murinus), although I'm really intrigued by the personality stereotype of the calceatum. I don't really have anything like the immanis but I do have a lot of terrestrials that are very colorful. So. That's what I'm thinking and no, I won't just get them all. Maybe in due time but I am going to limit myself to 15. The only reason I'm getting a poll on the 16th is I may trade my OBT, mature male, to someone who will try to breed it.

X. immanis for sure...it's the most different from what you currently have. I haven't got one yet, but soon enough, and P. metallica obviously.

I agree that you won't be able to stop at 15. Impossible.

haha...yeah i belive you will only have 15:liar: :liar: :liar: {D

man there really should be a disclaimer on this site like this

" tarantula keeping is more addicting that crack cocain"

but most of the time if you have found this site you already have bought a T from ou local LPS so its too late.

either way, wether or not you have yourself conviced you will stop at 15(which wont happen) id say get the X. immanis. there gorgeous

P. metalica hands down. I'm on the prowl for a couple of these. And as for the others... I can't see what makes the S. calceatum so popular. For me its hard to just pick any. I have to be able to see them so I look for T's that can be visable almost everyday.
From the list you provided I would say the X. immanis.

And stopping at 15 is only for now. You will get frustrated at the limitation eventually and want to add. I'm up to around 20:D (got some more)

I would recommend some L. violaceopes. They grow reasonably quickly, get quite large, and are a lot of fun to watch. Here is a pic of my male 2 molts ago

I wouldn't advise handling them, this was during rehousing. My female would have tagged me several times had this situation occurred with her :p

My favourite tarantula in your list is the Poecilotheria rufilata; second, the calceatum.

My top favourite T is the Citharischius crawshayi; though not arboreal, you do not have one, and NO COLLECTION IS COMPLETE WITHOUT IT!!! Why get yet another arboreal when you haven't even the King of Ts?

Glad to see you at least have an H. mac...that puts a little joy in my heart. :)

EDIT: metallica are overrated...they aren't so pretty in person. P. regalis look better. But, that is just my opinion...nobody flame me!

Take'm all!

Take them all! Have as many as you like! Just make sure you can take care of all of them. It's your hobby, not hers.:D

Hmmm, I don't see a GBB on there, get that. Then buy a whole bunch more and hide them in your (insert place wife doesn't look here) :D

I kid, but seriously get the GBB or P.metallica if you can afford it.

<-------wants one of those toy spiders with suction cups that you place inside car windows except an exact replica of PIG's P.metallica. {D

I have an H. maculata already. I love it! I think considering that I do have one I'm going to decide now to rule out the S. calceatum though. Seems that the H. maculata has all the benefits in it's favor over an S. cal and I already own it. The X. immanis looks so amazing but I don't really know much about it besides the fact that it's a burrower. If I were to acquire a 5" specimen how much space would it need? I love the look but don't really feel like I know enough about it yet. : /

Either P. rufilata or P. metallica.

P.rufilata rivals P.metallica in color so its a hard one!

I don't own any pokies but if I wanted one and could only have one, I'd get a rufilata.

I don't normally like the larger T's but when it's that beautiful, bigger can be better. :D

So, did you get your replacement yet? Which one did you choose if you did?
