I guess I'm one of the few who love crix. The chirping can be heard in my house year round b/c I raise them. If one gets away there are always more. they make a great pet on their own.

Yeah, when I was a kid, someone gave me one of those little Chinese bamboo cricket cages as a gift. So, I went out and caught a black field cricket and kept in hanging in my room. Fed it fruit and bread and listened to the chirping at night. I think that it lived quite a bit longer than these house crickets that we feed to our spiders seem to.

I hate those chirping SOBs....now they sit in the bathroom because I can't stand thier damnable chirping!

And my T's are having a hunger-strike or something as well...so I can't feed the belligerents to the T's

its only the males that sing. i have 2 stores i purchase from. i get mostly adult females from one. the other store sells pin heads and its a mixed bag.

ok...i never should've read this thread cuz i found two more escaped crix about 2 hours apart. One in my kitchen on the wall...then one in my bathroom before i went to bed. I hope that was the last of em, didn't hear any "singing" last night...course i was half drunk and slept for almost 12 hours straight lol

I actually had a dream once with that little pink tripple cute blob from the disney movie Atlantis. He was swinging in a chain back and forth making a loud squeeling sound... louder and louder until i woke up finding a cricket sitting and chirpind loudly on my bedcover.... I think I recall that he was swiftly deliverd into the not so mercyful maw of mr toilet....
These are some reasons that I keep roaches instead:
Don't smell
Don't chrip (in a one room apartment you kind of quickly become tripple deranged if you hear the chirping 24/7)
Easy to breed
More cute
Can be thought, at least, the basics of astrophysics
