So I had to bite my tongue so hard tonight at the grocery store- a lady in line behind us mentioned she had a spider. I asked her what kind she had. She told me a pink toe and she had it for a year but has not held it at all and when I asked her why she responded with "because it's still venemous" I paused for a moment and asked her what exactly she meant by "still venemous" in which she responded with she was waiting on the spider to no longer be venemous. I had to explain to this completely ignorant woman that tarantulas are ALWAYS venemous. They contain venom and will never NOT have venom. So she said that she was told that if she was allergic to bees that she would then have a bad reaction to spider venom. So I had to politely explain that is not how tarantula venom works. I explained the first and foremost tarantulas very rarely will maliciously bite a human. Then I also explained how tarantula venom is not harmful and deadly to humans. Their venom is designed to liquify the insides of their prey. Then she ended it with how she knew nothing about said spider and she took it in bc it was only $10. The only thing I said afterwards was "you may wanna do some research on that spider. And explained that regardless spiders are meant to be display pets anyway"

I had a similar conversation yes. These people know literally nothing about tarantulas. Often they view them as evil. My pet store would charge 50 dollars for that pink toe.

I stopped having those conversations eons ago. I used to educate.

I don’t care if people want to soak in their ignorance or their willful stupidity.

Yes they are! We have no reels, shorts, or the dreaded tik tok in this house! If I am not going to learn something I don't want it on my screen . Although I know the pokie handler you speak of Gar is off his head 😆 I don't handle at all but the man was on a mission to show ppl pokies aren't the monsters ppl think, even if his method was..... questionable.
And I am with you beardies are often not fed big enough meals, again as with t's, alot of mis-information out there and it's a shame , both make such wonderful pets.

But but but... you're Avic Jesus... you're supposed to love and lead all who cling to humidity and poor ventilation to the promised land... if you've given up on us, where will we find salvation?

LoLoLoLoLoLoL...I shouldn't have laughed as hard at this as I am, but the visual..just hundreds of men, women, & children roaches being lapped up, a half-dozen at a time in a cacophony of crunching & flying little legs & tiny roach bits, moving like a fire through the enclosure, until the very last one that thought he managed to find refuge under one of those gnarled up pieces of sandblasted grape vine... until a giant snout wedges itself underneath to slurp out the last one ...LoLoL

I would say like godzilla but beardies are so cute it would be more like Stitch off the Disney film when he builds the city to destroy it 🤣🤣🤣

Not an ignorant woman, just someone going by advice she's been given, probably by the many " experts " thet are around.

Maybe the ignorant one is the one that basis an opinion of someone on a couple of sentences !!!

The board is slightly different 😉 But there are certain types of posts I don’t respond to even here.
