Is there such a thing as hybrid scorpions.

No there is not such a thing as hybrid scorpions. Typically that is not possible unless they are genetically modified first. Even then it would be frowned upon by scorpion keepers.

Only with closely related species.

Vachoni, Aridus, and v. vachoni are all known to hybridize on occasion. It can result in specimens that are virtually impossible to identify without DNA testing.


..And even if they're in the same genus, it only works if the female is physically capable of taking up the spermatophore.


vaejovidae in general probably have a massive amount of hybridization, considering the enormous level of speciation. Species like puritanus and confusus can probably hybridize, and in some areas, their ranges do overlap (joshuatree national park is one such area)..

Just building a little bit off of smokehound here, but I'm willing to bet in Vaejovidae there are plenty of cryptic (seeming like other known species) species that may or may not have been influenced by hybridization as well. But there's really no way that anyone in the hobby would know without being able to DNA test all specimens since I'm willing to bet IDing them taxonomically would be a nightmare.

That's one thing that's nice with these guys, they aren't trying to breed with any other species. They're not dogs! Humping whatever moves.... I'm not sure about scorpions, but with tarantulas, there's a good number of genera that are easy to cross breed.. Psalmopous... Poecilitharia.. But a true arthropod enthusiest like ourselves, I feel would appreciate the specimen for what it has evolved to be without the idiocy of man's wishful thinking.

I think in some cases, they may almost be like dogs (just without humans having a hand in it). Some species can be so closely related that it can work out, which is good for them, but bad for anyone studying them or wanting a pure line of a species lol. But I agree, it would be nice to keep as many species as they were instead of crossbreeding them unnecessarily.
