Humorous jumping spider breeding fail. Why was he turning towards the camera and doing a mating dance?

This has left me baffled. I think it might be because he sees his reflection in the camera which is prompting him to…threat posture? But it also looks like their mating dance so I can’t quite tell. Maybe someone can debunk whats going on.

Its pretty funny though.

Performance anxiety. He didn't realize he was going to be filmed, heard your sweet voice, assumed you were the fluff, & was wondering why you weren't doing your job. Given the circumstances, I'd be flustered, too..

I assume because of the leg flicking and showing of fangs, it’s a threat pose but I’m not sure what the mating dance of P. regius is.

I have had two Eris militaris males do something similar. They (at two different times) smelled/saw an adult female, and than if they stopped seeing her, they started dancing. Though it was an actual (hesitant) mating dance, not a threat pose.
