That reminds me very much of my grandmother who now has Alzheimers...she does this weird laugh anytime she sees hummingbirds/the hummingbird stuff up around their house even now and my grandpa keeps their hummingbird feeders full so she will take a break from her wandering around their house and just sit and watch; which she does for hours, now, I guess... :)
Aw, Alzheimers is really tough. My (favorite) great uncle had it. It's nice that she still has something that makes her so happy :)

Great pics Kirk!! Thanks for sharing :D

I've never seen any around where I live but here is two from Costa Rica that managed to stay still long enough for me to photograph:cool:

The pic below I took on St. Thomas last year, this bird had this tiny little nest that rested on top of this palm leaf. The wind would blow this leaf all over the place but the bird sort of road it like he she was on a surf board. Very entertaining.

I fill a jar with white sugar and pour boiling water in, stir it as I go, 'til I have a jar full of clear syrup. This keeps in the fridge for a very long time, because it's kinda too sugary and not watery enough for yeasts/moulds/bacteria to grow. When I fill the feeders, I dilute it by half with plain water. You can dilute it more and the hummingbirds will still come. I think they like it better rich, though.

We always get a couple where I am because I have some honeysuckle growing but not too many. They're always fun to watch.

I'm sad I haven't seen any hummingbirds this year like I usually do. At least the red headed woodpecker has come back for me to see. Pretty little thing, but I really want some hummingbirds to come back.
