Humidity for Rose Hair

I am having a problem with the humidity in my rose hairs tank. i am not spraying the substrate or anything and the humidity is staying high, I guess my question is with the humidity being high will it hurt the tarantula since it is a desert species and does not need high humidity. When I got up this morning the humidity said 90% now it says 65%. What would make the humidity be high if you are not misting the substrate, and what can I do to get it down if it is going to hurt my spider? I am going by a digital humidity tester. Is humidity that important?

Do you have a water dish in the cage? that can raise the humidity level. Best way to get it down is provide more ventalation, I use mesh lids for my rosea's since they never climb and the humidity is low in their tanks.

Humidity levels are an ongoing debate with some saying they are very crucial and others saying that it is not that important. Personally, I fall into the "not so important" camp. Internal hydration is much more important to the health of your tarantula than ambient humidity levels. Without knowing the specifics of your enclosure, one thing you can do is to increase the ventilation. Your standard Kritter Keepers are fairly well ventilated. Another question would be do you live in a humid environment? If so, there will not be too much you can do to lower the humidity, assuming no air conditioning.

With this said, if your G. rosea seems content and basically sitting in one place, I wouldn't worry much it. If it is wandering increased ventilation would be your best bet.

my room(where my rosie is) is kept at a constant 30-35% humidity due to a dehumidifier. the rosie doesnt seem to mind it, but i misted it and brought her cage to 50%ish and she started crawling walls to get more vetilation.

Ok thanks. i was wondering about it. My set up is a 10 gallon tank with a wire mesh lid, so that is about as much ventilation as I can give her in that respect. I do have air conditioning so that keeps my house fairly cool. Also she seems to sit in one place most of the time, i was concerned about that also but after reading about all yours I guess that is a good thing huh?
