aaand back on topic.. nice box.. i dont think id go as nutso.. iv gotten a box with 4 12in tubes [sadly was only like 2in in diameter which was 1/2 what i payed for] three 12x12 sheets and a few chunks of drift wood.. and even then i was like "meh, about time" not quite excited ;) then again i dont exactly jump up and down when i get a T either... im pretty empty of emotions most times :| lol :alien:

but i will admit its nice opening a box and seeing the cool funky logs you get when you get driftwood.. not exciting to me, just different like "cool a random K looking log thasts different... hmm this one looks like a basking log.. oh hey look tree roots.." recently i got one that looked like... ehem, manly..things... like forreal a double knot in the wood... just below a jutting branch.... yea that piece was cut down and reshaped lmao... i wasnt having that in a fishtank "oh look some moss balls..." *gives a look*... doesnt help any it was gona me "flame moss".... great balls of fire eh? ;P

only an exotic keeper can be entertained by a box of dead trees/bark ;)

So I'm really curious just how much need there is for good wood as I see it discussed frequently. I have access to vast amounts of drift wood that looks great and have recently been considering gathering, cleaning and baking it to sell to hobbyists....anyone think I'd have buyers?

I'm guessing actual wood isn't in as high a demand as cork bark but I'm sure there's a demand since pet shops sell that stuff.

Personally, I'm staying away from wood since it's much heavier and I don't anchor things solidly, I only bury them so there would be the risk of it falling on the T.

Cork bark is also much easier to deal with since I can just break part of them off with my hand for sling enclosures and has less of a tendency to mold in my limited experience with different kind of wood(although I don't think I ever managed to fit my only piece of driftwood in an enclosure I used).

Well your only thinking of one hobby.. The cork may he easier for you but what about the people with lizards, some of us aquatic keepers like plants and aquascaping.. We cant use cork and most dont want resin trees xp. Also some people buy it for vivs and eood may look better to them then a boring ol cork slab

I think it s a good idea Pyro.

I keep a few reptiles as well and always am looking for something OTHER than cork for them.

Been wanting to get some kind of Chelydra as well, and drift wood would be nice, I think. Not new to turtles k, lol.

Indeed it is nice.. My turts ruined all my wood thi floating cork is fun for them imo (fun for me to watch that is lolol) bht so ling as its not an insanly dense wood itd even be cheap to ship, and worst case hit it with a log splitter or an axe (for a more natural looking cut) chisel maybe , and your set xD but its still tech free money to the finder lolol (so plz dont be THAT guy who gets one the size of a football and asks $150 for it lol
