Since we're on the topic, MacCleod, would you repost the pictures of your tank?

I want ideas for when I'm able to set up an assassin tank of my own
Done :)
Pics were offline since I changed my webspace.

Wow, very nice. I just got 4 biguatta a couple of months ago so I'm expecting little'ns any time now. My pal pen seems pretty poor in comparison to your set-up, but they seem happy and they're still fascinating to watch.

That is a truly awesome setup. Thanks, MacLeod :worship:

I'm planning on getting some P. Mombo in a 10 gallon, maybe another 10 gallon for rearing.

Will the smallest nymphs be able to feed on fully grown Tenebrio molitor ?

Nice setup! I have a 30 gallon that ive been thinking about filling with some assassins.

BTW, do you guys know if the orange spots are compatible with the white spots? I have a few of both species together and they both seem to be doing fine...although the orange spots are still smaller than the whites. :?

Thanks,
Andrew

You should not keep them together because they might interbreed. If the orange are smaller than the white they were grown in extremely poor and crowded and underfed conditions (plus you might have only males).

I didn't think interbreeding was a possible problem for insects. what could happen? same as mamals, deformities and such?

I fed them crickets...nothing more, nothing less :)

Unfortunatly, I don't have that setup anymore.
I had to quit the hobby, because my dad wanted his own computer (and a desk ofcourse), so I had to sell all my inverts :(

But maybe I restart later, when I live on my own ;)

I think ilovebugs is getting the terms "interbreeding" confused with "inbreeding".

I have a small colony of seven larger Mombo nymphs. I paid $2 a piece for them.

The orange spots are still nymphs, which is what I meant by saying the were still smaller. Sorry for the confusion.

However, I didnt know that they could interbreed. Would their eggs even hatch? If they did, would the nymphs be sterile?

Sorry for all of the questions.. just curious.;)

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I've seen only a few pictures of the reported biguttata x rhadamanthus and little info. European friends I've spoken to say it's nearly impossible to find pure stock from invert vendors on that continent. Fortunately nobody in North America has been making hyrid junk... yet. Maybe a European arachnomember would be willing to help you out with detailed info on the crosses.

Which breeder? That's a very important piece of information since the ones selling on the board you cite are asking 10-20 a piece.

This was a while ago.
I was only offering advice as to where he/she may find assassins.
