I currently have a Black Rock scorpion that is currently in a tank that was recommended at the pet shop I brought him from. It’s been a few months and I am now about to adopt a cat, the lid of my tank is mesh and I want to ensure both Scorps and my cat will be safe from each other. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cat proof my scorpions enclosure?

I’m not stupid and have thought of that. I live in a small apartment, my cat will have access to every room as there’s only 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom that separates the apartment.

I didn't mean to insult your intelligence.
It's just the easiest solution.
If you don't have a closet with a door or anything you can use a cabinet.
You could also try to anchor the enclosure on a shelf. Maybe Velcro tape or just a high lip that would prevent it from being slid off.

no I know that! Thank you for your suggestion, I did not even think of using a cabinet. That’s actually the best solution for me!

No one wrote or suggested you were stupid,
nor can anyone assume you thought of anything.

@DomGom TheFather generally gives sound arachnid advice

also we have plenty of dead arachnids because of cat owners who did stupid things

You asked an open ended question- expect ANY answer.

good luck!

you can always just rehouse the scorp into a sterilte latched storage container then no worries about when the cat hops onto the top of the cage long as its not in a place that can be knocked over your pets should be safeonly other thing i can think to do would be swap the mesh out for a thick(enough to hold weight of your cat)piece of accrylic mounted with hinges or secured in some way

I have two sphynx cats who are crazy inquisitive so I totally understand. My advice would be putting your scorpion somewhere save temporarily keeping the cat out of the bedroom and just seeing where it going, see what it can actually get into then you can figure out placement, that’s what I have had to do with all my spiders and I have peace of mind knowing they are save and so are my cats.

I have two cats as well. My solution is to have my arachnids housed on high shelves, with no spots for the cats to jump to within reach. If my cats were younger and more athletic I would probably use a cabinet with doors to ensure the cats absolutely could not access the animals.

As @Albireo Wulfbooper suggested. I'd get a mouse, put it in an enclosure that you think is safe in the room with the cat and observe. Trial and error. All cats will do all sorts of weird things to get at prey.
We have three cats and wildlife roaming the house periodically. The cats will eventually sneak into every room and explore everywhere. Assume this. Also assume the cats will cause collateral damage in the process. So best bet is the usual double safety as used when keeping hots. Containment within containment.

BTW, cats will NOT learn. Hunting instinct over-rides all. One of our cement heads got banged by a cobra and spent a year recovering. Dum dum still wants to chase snakes.
