Note: this may be my last post. If you would like more tutorials please DM me.
Where to find and how to collect: right now in Florida it is white tussock moth season so they should be pretty common on oak trees.
To collect, use a paint brush and brush the caterpillar in a jar.
(Note this is a poisonous species so do not touch. Catch with caution!)
Building the habitat: take a 16 oz mason jar poke holes in the lid with a thumb tack. put any potting soil without perlite on the bottom of the jar, about 2 in of soil.
Add one thick stick on the side of a jar for the cocoon make sure it's all the way to the lid then add a skinnier stick with branches going off in all directions make sure it reaches the top of the lid.
Food and water: feed clean oak leaves and lightly mist 3 times a week.
Cleaning: change the soil once a week.
Thank you for reading!
