well, I want to get rid of my red runner colony but I don't know how. I am 15 and my parents don't want me to clean the colony because of the risk of them getting out during cleaning. at this point, it has the sweet smell and I noticed some molding. what should I do?

How are you keeping them? I’d be willing to take them off of your hands but of course you’d need to transfer them into another container or enclosure first. Maybe try leaving the enclosure or clean it up outside of your house if it’s cooler outside(but not too cold). This should substantially slow down the roaches so escapees are not a problem.

Also, how large is the colony? If it’s only 20-30 members it should be relatively easy to clean.

they are in a very large tub with egg cartons. I live in Washington so, it can get pretty cold

Put them in a non-heated room to stop the breeding. Put them outside for hakf an hour and then clean the tub they're in. Communicate with your parents that they cannot become pests with these temperatures.
