how often are slings supposed to molt??

my 1” curlyhair sling molted barely 2 weeks ago, and it looks like he’s already in premolt again. I don’t even feed him too much, just half a mealworm once a week. i’ve been searching and most people say they molt every 20+ days or once a month maybe?? is my fella just growing crazy fast…

Some do it often others can take months of pre molt. Smaller the t more often they molt. I got a 3” one I been waiting half a year already not moltEd.

There are many variables affecting molting. There is no magic number!!

Agreed he just looks a lil heavy, kind of like my OBT

I’m still waiting for him to molt since he hasn’t eaten since early October. I still offer him food from time to time but he much rather insists on sitting in his web tunnel lol

he got that dark spot on his abdomen a day before he molted last time, and it just appeared again. I thought that was a sign of premolt.

The dark spot you see is the mirror patch where the urticating hairs are. Its more visible in slings

Some species just have a dark spot. For example: A. genic, G. rosea, T. vagans, N. chromatus, etc. All of these I have as tiny bitty slings and all of them have dark spots on their abdomen. It does get noticeably darker when they're about to molt, but it's always there.
