how many species? (I googled!)

and I cant find an answer. I can find how many different species of SPIDERS but not tarantulas, and I am in the middle of writing my presentation.
ANyone have a ballpark figure they can toss my direction?
If it is in the Tarantula Keepers Guide, I can look it up (Im kinda buried under a stack of notebooks and sitting right in front of the computer-easier to type it than get up and hunt down my book)..

hmmm

we can never be sure how many different Ts there are in the world but there have been over 800 recorded as most books say

there're are probably more you just need to look for them

I cant believe I have to be the first to give my presentation, and AND AND its only a week away.
My gosh, my last name starts with Zu...how the heck is it that I have to be FIRST.

Guess someone has to be the ass that everyone compares their own to....sigh

Over 800 sounds accurate to me as well. I have heard in some lectures that the number is up over 850 now, but I obviously have no knowledge of that myself. I know they find and describe new species every year though.

You don't have to count them - there is a "count" function already at the top of the page.

Theraphosidae contains 110 genera with a total of 878 species to date.
