How long do I need to wait to give some food to my sling T after she has molted?

My Caribena Versicolor sling molted on 7/15/23.

It was amazing to see her molt 🤩. I saw her today moving a lot; she even moved her molt to the end of the web. She is webbing at the moment. But I also notice that her abdomen has shrunk a lot since her molt on the 15th.

I was told that I needed to wait at least one week before I give it her a cricket to eat.

I just don’t want her to starve 🥺; she's around 3/4 of an inch now.

Could you guys give me some feedback about this topic?

Thank you in advance for your time, guys.

Abdomen shrinking after molting is very normal.

Wait about a week or so for the T to harden before you feed, and you can confirm by checking parts of the carapace and chelicerae to see if they have turned clearish white to dark brown/black, this means they have hardened.

She looks all good now compared when she molted.
Here is a picture of her when she molted on the 15th.

The fangs are black now. I just noticed that she is moving around a lot. to be honest last time she was moving around like this time I give her a cricket and she devores it. 😂

I made it from a clear acrylic tube I got from Amazon.

She has a lot of color now. I don’t see any clearish white. But like I said, I don’t want to rush and hurt my T.

Yeah no rush at all, just wait a week and feed away, they might take a couple meals to fatten up too, so don't be afraid to give them a 2nd feeder if they really look like they want it

Wow you built the base and the lid? Very neat container ! I’ve seen some on there that need put together also .
Yes, the base is just a tube plug that I shaped to fit better. I added a drain hole as well. For the top, I’m currently working on a clear cover to replace the white one I have in order to see my beautiful T better. 🤩

At that tiny size they harden up pretty fast. If you can't get a clear look at the fangs (I have trouble seeing them on a small sling) you can wait for a true "hunting pose". My versi and my Avic would not open up a hole in their webbing until they were ready to hunt. So for them, at any size, I usually go with "toes clearly visible on cricket watch" as feeding criteria. Might not be a whole week for your little sling.

Like I said.
Her fags are total black. She is also on the part of her web when I use to give her food. Too bad that my cellphone camera is not good on close up pictures. 😖

Can you PM me the link to your tubes? I found a few but I'm unsure about the quality.

Like ladyratri mentioned above, the hunting pose is a great tell that it's ready to eat.

If she molted on the 15th, I don’t think she’d be ready in 2 days. She won’t starve waiting a few more days, but she will if she breaks both her fangs. My GBB just molted and his abdomen is easily a third of his carapace size now. He’ll get a big meal when he’s hardened up and ready. My versi and vari, will both do the face down, hunting pose when they are ready to eat.

It's possible. I checked the photos of my Avic at that size and while I waited 5 days to feed it, I have pictures at like day 3 where it looks like the fangs are already black... 🤷

This. OP, it might sound like hyperbole, but there is basically zero risk waiting for an extra day or two, as long as you put a few drops of water on the web. If you feed too soon, the risk is small but it is possible for them to break fangs trying to defend themselves, and that can have bad consequences.

Personally I minimize that risk by waiting a little extra.
