How long do centipedes usually live for?

It's actually a tough call. Very few people out there have raised them from birth till death that I know of. I believe the commonly accepted time is about 5 -7 years. Could be more and could be less. Really depends on the species.

Thanks, i just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to fork out hard earned cash for something that could die in a year.

Do they really only live a year? Or is it because people don't quite have the care requirements down?

No, that's all they live. They're not a "perrenial" arachnid like Ts. They get in, they do their thing, and they get out. Very high metabolisms so they burn out fast.

You're referring to centipedes or solifugids (they're arachnids, no?)?

the solifugids live for a year.

centipedes live longer.
