I have a 3'' OBT, how long can she go without eating?
When I say not eat I mean not being fed even though she would eat if she wanted.
I'm not being a jerk and trying not to feed her, I am just curious. It's been 2 weeks since her last meal, I tried feeding her, she tried to get it but I bumped the enclosure and she ran away. Now she is just being defensive.
I'm getting sidetracked here lol, so how long can she go without eating if I don't feed her(not that I won't, I will feed her but im curious)
Thanks!

She has a decent sized abdomen from what I can see through her webs(she rarely comes out so it's hard to feed her to begin with)

I wouldn’t be worried. She’ll eat when she wants/needs to. Just keep tryin as you normally would.

You can't really answer a question like that unfortunately - Weeks? Months? for larger specimens even a year or more. it's up in the air.

If they're looking shriveled and thin, that would indicate that they perhaps may need some food soon but they will also look really thin after a molt and you still wanna give them time off to recuperate and harden.

I slow down my feedings when they get kinda plump because I want to give them the seclusion they need to molt.
But if a few weeks go by and they still haven't molted I will drop something in and see what their feeding response is like.

If they want it - bon appetite. See you in a couple of weeks.
If they don't - I take it out and give them more time.

even if its thin it could go months. I feed most of my ts every 2-3 weeks.

yeah, they have to deal with feast / famine in the wild, they can hang without food for quite some time

Honestly, tarantulas can go without food for months. I wouldn't worry unless its abdomen is extremely thin or shriveled. I've had mine go for 2 months without food and he was perfectly fine.

I know they are two different species and genus of T, but my G. Porteri has gone off feed for about 8 or 9 months, and she is still trucking, as long as the abdomen is plump, and have access to fresh water, they'll be okay.
