So, my cat broke my Lasiodora parahybana's enclosure in such a way that it wasn't immediately obvious that it was weakened.
The spider got out in the night, and it left a trail of silk right into a hole in the wall of the spare bedroom it is in. This hole is partially blocked by a hot water heating pipe (which isn't on due to it being summer). The other side of the hole in another spare bedroom is largely blocked by some rabbit enclosures, and their ejected hay and fur, so we don't think it has passe through into that room.
We have caught it out in the open, but it spooks very easily and we haven't been fast enough to block its escape. Its also a decent sized L. parahbyana, so its not necessarily an easy spider to snatch.
As fun as a free range tarantula might be, I don't know that having a wall tarantula is a sustainable housing option.
Does anyone have suggestions for containing it, or perhaps trapping it?
