The nocturnal tarantula is one of these though...they need no light. My t room never gets light...ts grow and breed just fine. Less light simply means they spend less time hiding.
Totally agree. A lot of tarantulas are actually photosensitive. This is why some Ts will move away when you shine a bright light on them to observe them or take pictures. It's also why some tarantulas (I believe H. maculata is one) will immediately hide when you turn the lights on.

There is no better time for me to observe my collection than when I first turn on the light in my closet. Several tarantulas will be out and about, as well as my scorpions.
