Not cultured, but I bought blue bottle fly pupae for my mantises when I had a bunch of em'.

Don't think it would be too useful for T's though.

A long time ago, A house fly flew into my small juvenile C. versiolor enclosure. It caught it and ate it during maintenance. Somehow it was fast enough to catch it when it landed. But other than that, I never tried them as a staple.

I have used blue and green bottles as well as curly wings although I buy them in I don't culture them but like anything else you can . They culture like fruitwalks but different food I think but its been a long time since I read up on it so double check. They are great for arboreal t's no good to ground dwellers they just don't seem to be quick enough they do eventually catch em but imo it probably takes more energy for the t then the fly gives so not really worth it. But my arboreal love them as little treats they get the leftovers off the jumpers sometimes n seem to hunt them fine.
But again as full time nutrition they aren't enough. It's like eating cornflakes everyday you can do it you could survive but won't be healthy. They need the mix of food, veg fruit ect the feeders eat to get the best nutritional value.
I hope I helped not hindered, if you have more questions you know where we are 😉😊.

I buy them as maggots, then the ones I haven't gotten to in time eventually hatch out as flies. Arboreals love the adult flies, and pretty much everyone loves the maggots. I don't use them as a staple, but I do feed them off to the spiders when I have them. The adult flies really trigger the prey drive in even the most finicky arboreal slings and juvies. Probably the maggots have better nutritional value, I would assume the adults have a high water content and use up a lot of fat in metamorphosis and buzzing around.
Edit: those are 2 blue bottle fly maggots in this pic I just posted.

hey everyone, thanks for the great replies and advice. after doing some more googling on culturing them I have decided not to. I wasnt able to find a lot of info about it but what I did find was every source talked about how bad I culture of them smells, so think im going to move on from this idea.

Probably a wise choice. If you're in the US and interested in using them as feeders, you can buy the maggots online very easily, they are usually sold as fishing bait.

I wouldnt use any fly i catch in the house.

why? Once i squashed a fly and tons of tiny worms came out. I almost vomitted.

if its a store bought culture, i am sure its a better source.
