Be very careful using Garlic (same with Onion/chives etc) with your dogs (cats are much more sensitive), it has a substance in it (thiosulphate) that can destroy red blood cells which can cause anemia, kidney failure and in rare cases death. I have read that in low doses it can be beneficial (as it's stated that the toxicity comes from very large doses), and is probably ok, but having all the info never hurts! Just speak with your vet about dosage beforehand.

I have two dogs - 35 and 40 lbs. I had horrid flea problems one rainy spring while living in TX about 5 years ago and decided to dose them with garlic. I put a teaspoon of garlic powder in their food 2x a day for about a year. I not sure I saw any major difference in flea activity but it made me feel like I was doing something and the dogs seemed to enjoy the flavor...haha. They didn't suffer any ill effects from that dose and are both still acting like puppies at 8 and 11 years old :) I never tried to dose my cat with anything but it wasn't as big a deal for her since she stays inside and the spot on treatment I gave her seemed to take care of her flea problem.

In addition to checking with the manufacturer about how long the pesticide lasts I might also look into or ask about what kind of poison it is. This way you can know what kinds of symptoms to look for that may suggest an issue. If its a neurotoxin (I would assume this is what it would be for a quick effect) you could expect to see an impact on the outdoor spider you bring in quickly. If its a growth inhibitor or includes one in addition to other toxins the effects may not be immediately apparent and could possibly harm your Ts farther down the road. I don't know what other things they use to kill ticks but I bet there are others as well.

Best of luck with the bombing!
