lol I hope this is right we toon to post this in. So I’m almost all packed up for them to come fix the water damage. And I’m going to a hotel. For those of you that take spiders on expos and to sell do hotels allow them and feeders in or do I need to sneak them in? My sister said I could leave some at her house at least my big ones but she has some crazy cats and an even crazier tiny dog! Plus I just like to check on all of them daily. Plus all my slings keep molting and I have 2 juices I expect to molt any day I also have to baby i3 jumpers I have to hand feed and water every day of they don’t thrive so just wondering should I be upfront which would be easier do I can carry them up safely of do I need to be sneaky and pack them in boxes with a bunch of paper and towels? Thank u for any advice!!! And ask me why in all this madness I had to order more last night😭 just some species I’ve never seen were being offered!! So excited to post pictures when they arrive

Girl I don't know about this, they exterminate the crap out of hotel rooms :/ Maybe I am just paranoid though.

If you disclose they could refuse your business...

Some of them are required to enter the room every few days or so, even if you don't want room service, they still have to go in, so there's no hiding them most likely

What if they did allow them but housekeeping sprays something when they are cleaning

What if they do something to them out of fear or maliciousness

(All the reasons why I eventually ruled against it)

Omg see idk if they could still enter my room! Especially if I will be there for up to 3 weeks. And I was worried about cleaning products, I’m planning on taping off all vents and doorways just in case. I’m also paranoid I’ve only met one person that doesn’t work at a reptile store out here that hasn’t showed me videos or told me how they kill spiders so I’m not going to lie it has made me very anxious of how ppl view and treat them😢 lol now your making me think maybe I should take them to my sisters and just drive over every day I have to drive to moms r erg day to check on my dog and cats. But I will happily do that if it’s for the best I would be wrecked if something happened!

INCOMING DUMB ANSWER(S) but motels might be better because you won't have people entering in and out of your room. Cheaper too, and no pet fees.

However if you are doing hotels and want to sneak-
sneak them in a big takeout bag. Like McDonald's, or put them in a big box temporarily. Hotel cleaners will go into your room when you are not there and spray/wash and change your blankets. Put them somewhere safely with windows open if you are planning on leaving.

Or, you could inform the hotel that you have tarantulas and pay the pet fee, and let them know cleaning products are sensitive to them and go from there.

Is there a room at your sister's that isn't used by the cats and dogs?

Omg never even thought of a motel! Unfortunately the motels out here are drug and prostitution holes. So today my brother and his wife moved into my sisters basement! But my sister works from home and said I can put them in her office and she sill work from the couch, but my brother and his wife are like genius brains with no common sense😂 so they might do something dumb but not on purpose. I feel like there are so many cons on both sides I didn’t even realize!! I do think I’ll take my big ones to her house but I’m going to keep the slings wherever I go. Someone said I can call downstairs and say I don’t want room service for my stay. But I don’t know if that will be honored. I think I will call anonymously and ask about tarantulas over phone so I know what kind of reaction I can expect maybe they will be accepting?

Do not tell them
Really??!! Ok that was my first thought but my mom said they only care about things peeing on the carpet…I actually believed her but now I think she just doesn’t want them😂 thank u for warning me!!!

Maybe just sneak them in like any wc spider you could catch . The only thing is substrate might get shaken around from carrying slings in a bag.

K project sneaky about to commence forewarning I mess up everything and always get caught I could never be a spy

Why risk it? Peeps do not react favorably to these animals

Maybe if you have insurance and that it covers them. That way it would easier should you choose to declare them.

Omg I was just saying when ppl hear what I love they actually show me videos of what they do to spiders they find or tell me. I don’t trust my pets with anybody to be honest it’s given me a weird anxiety about it. I just don’t really know how hotels work I’m worried if I get busted I’ll be banned from all local hotels. I don’t know if that’s how it works or not but that was my fear.

Well you were right insurance is being dicks. I have to pay for 3 weeks out of pocket and then they will reimburse me. So it’s me paying the hotel😢 but god that might have been helpful

I would camp out in my yard then. That is really wrong. Find new insurances next year. How can you be forced out of home and be compensated. So absurd and sad 😔

I know crazy right!! Luckily I have a card for emergencies but what if I didn’t?

Yeah, I wouldn't risk telling the hotel. Better to be discreet about it.
Ok thank u!! I’ll be discreet!! I’m going to tell the front I like to clean my own room try to give me more then just the sign on my door see if that helps!

I've gotten some cheap airbnbs? Less likely to find a place that has an exterminator?

I know, geez I can’t believe there’s so many things to be aware of! But I’m happy everyone has gave me a heads up!!!

So I did look up airbnbs. Idk why but they are all private rooms with the homeowner there? And I found 2 studios but were significantly more expensive and so I need to call and see if they would reimburse me that high an amount lol I really don’t want to stay with some random person😭

Did you filter it to "entire house" or whatever the option is?
