1/4" and so cute and full of personality. (Yes, I know I'm in for a slow growth process; I like slow growers!)

Awwww! Congrats on your baby. My sling was about that size when I first got him and now 1.5 year later is about 1 inch. I have a MF also and really enjoy keeping them both. They are curious, they rarely hide, and they are active with bulldozing, walking around, etc. Just get ready to retrieve lots of crickets that they don't wanna eat. Although when my lil guy was that size, I gave him cut uo wax worms and he was a fan.

Yep, sounds about right. This little one refuses food every once in a while, but has been a pretty good eater so far. He/she also likes to play with the pre-killed prey I put in there regardless, so it's always a bit of a guessing game to see where it moves the little carcasses to. So far, we're a big fan of killed dubias and diced crickets.

Wow, they're even cute as babies!!!! I cannot wait till I get mine Tues!!! Keep us updated about yours plz
What species did you get? I love my Euathlus just because they're naturally pretty curious and inquisitive (and, dare I say, downright friendly). Mine always loves to come out and march around any time I open the enclosure.

Makes me sad that I lost one of these before. It was early in my T keeping days. I believe dehydration was the cause:(

I should get another one soon, now that I know how to keep slings properly.

Sorry to hear that. Mine's pretty hardy (knock on wood), so if you're familiar with sling care, it should be a cake walk for you now! I love mine.

I got the red. I had a chance to get the yellow about a month ago but I ended up getting an E. Campestratus and an G. Pulchripes in which I love to. Both even as slings are very docile. The To however has sealed himself off from the world and I haven't seen him for almost two weeks now, lol. Praying he's ok. Been sorely tempted to dig him out, lol. But yea, that's one of the things that drew me to the E. sp red is their nature but I didn't know the slings were that friendly to. I thot they would run and hide given the chance. Does yours burrow? I heard they do and do alot of bulldozing

Yeah mine does. It'll disappear for weeks at a time and just chill in its burrow, but it also likes to bulldoze and re-arrange its enclosure a lot. They're also big fasters, not sure if you know that, so don't be surprised to see them refuse food for periods of time. Mine'll go weeks without eating, and then scavenge pre-killed prey out of nowhere.

I don't like the no eating and disappoint for days or weeks. But a spider do what a spider do, lol. I replied to your last comment but it disappeared. Here's my E. Campestratus..her name is Zilly

IMG_7488.JPG IMG_7489.JPG I am super new to the hobby. Got T's because 1. They are super fascinating and 2. Hope they will help me overcome my fear of spiders. Anyways, I got these 2 H. chilensis slings. Tiny fellows. I decided to post their pics here, in case people are interested in seeing the small changes. Since I couldn't find an existing H. chilensis picture thread I figured I'd start one. So people can, if they want, add pictures of their chilensis here.

Got them 13/6/19, they both looked almost see through whitish with a tiny black spot on their abdomen.
Following pics are not a great quality (phone quality), in the future I hope to take better pics to show their growth.
I don't know how to post pics in the text so added files will have to do.
Pic 1: Sling number 1. This one changed the most. Today his abdomen looks almost black (hoping for a molt soon)
Pic 2: Sling number 2. This one, I wasn't sure it was eating as well as the other one. It stayed white with black spot. Untill today. Now it looks a little darker.
Ps: they were both fed yesterday (7 July)

One appears to be pre molt, so don't worry if it doesn't eat for a long time.

These are a very slow growing species, every one wants one, few have the will to raise them from slings.

Don't expect fast growth or great appetites....its gonna be a long journey, but in the end, I bet it will be worth it.

Might aswell put those into this thread, too.

From this in 2012....

Mind you, these were hatched 08/2011 and will be 10 years old in a few months already!
