I am very interested in your enjoyments regarding your tarantulas.
Could be general things to very specific ones.
Or simply how much joy it gives you.
It also doesnt need to cover everything you like ...just what comes to mind.

I really like the way they move, it's completely different to the movement of other spiders i observe. Also the movement of the spinnerets bring me joy every time i see it.

I just think they're neat.

That doesn't answer you though, does it? Let's see if I can give it a little more thought.

Alright, so...I used to have a slight phobia of them (very mild, call it a "visceral apprehension"), that other animals just didn't elicit. Then I had a bizarre dream, & woke up intrigued...went out & got one. I think part of it is even still confronting the mystique about them that triggered my parasympathetic, with the other part being catching up on delayed fascination. Whatever it is, they do, like you said, bring me joy.

I love how gorgeous they are, their size, how they walk and their feeding response.

I love when they make burrows too, my G Pulchripes has made a construction job in his enclosure and it’s so cool

I love how each species, and each individual has their own unique characteristics. I love the fact that there's so much we still don't know about their physiology and behavior... there's always so much to learn. It's also very cool how there are so many facets within the hobby to explore. Breeding, building enclosures, artwork, bioactive, taxidermy/ preservation, the list goes on.

having an ancient line of predators in my home, that barely changed in millions and millions of years of evolution

mammals come and go, spiders will most likely still be around when they are finally gone

also making sure the ones i care for get a chance at continuing that mission

I enjoy threat poses alot, yeah I know. I don't get to see them hardly ever.

I also like their heart shaped mouth when they are on the side of the enclosure.

I do admire their fangs quite a bit.

Out of all that I love the most some of the stunning colors and patterns T's sport. I have an affinity towards all black T's.

I love how they play dead , how they attack their prey , they don’t bark like my other favorite pet. Webbing , shedding skin is the scariest part of ownership. :( They don’t snore either !

Tarantulas for me...I love them because they are tarantulas.

I have done extensive research and had considered getting them in the past. This time I was in a weird place but I had some money. Bom! Got my first set of T's just over 4 months ago. They have been very well thriving.

Caring for them and observing them has been a real treat. Each day I wake up and quietly peer at them doing their thing, and it is always different each time. Seeing them be themselves is what brings me the most joy. Also colours and patterns 🤯

I just simply enjoy keeping them. Same with my snakes or my fish. No real rhyme or reason, just animals that have intrigued me since I was a kid and I absolutely find fascinating. Also, I have a soft spot for misunderstood "scary" animals. They deserve love too!

Any time I catch mine grooming themselves I get so much joy!!! Just something about all those legs moving around, like a many legged cat, just cracks me up.

I actually caught my big girl pretty much combing her little toe floof with her fangs at one point. It was unreasonably adorable 😍

I'm also always entertained when the pre-molt butt gets sufficiently heavy that they hold it up with a leg (or two 😅) when they cling to the glass.

My two P. irminia both make a real ruckus when they pounce at a cricket -- the bigger one actually startled her neighbor at one point by stomping so hard when she struck at her dinner. The smaller has had a few absolute comical "swing and a miss" hunting attempts -- it bolted into its web fortress so fast, I didn't realize it had missed until a few minutes later when I saw the cricket wander back out from behind the water dish like nothing happened 🤣🤣

That sounds adorable.
They remind me of little walruses 😀

Do you also have the problem that your family and friends can't believe that you have motherly feelings for your spiders or that you find them cute?

Luckily for me, my husband actually finds them pretty adorable at this point, mostly when they are being big derps (yes, I am a frequent poster in the Derpy Tarantulas Pictures thread). And my younger kid is sufficiently impressionable, having been 4 when we got the first T, that he thinks they're cute because we think they're cute.

I've posted a few times in different threads about how I started keeping my couple T's as part of helping my older kid, now 10, work through his significant bug phobia. He has come a really long way, including sitting in with me during rehousing sometimes, and occasionally feeding them. He checks on them to say goodnight almost every night, and cried when we had a tiny freebie sling die.

I definitely have more supportive immediate family than some. ♥

Cant say Tarantulas specifically but can cover spiders as a whole. A few years ago I was at the "IS THAT A SPIDER HOW DO I GET IT OUT/AWAY FROM ME" stage. Then a really big one got into my room and was hanging out on the ceiling (supposedly some sort of wolf spider, leg span around 10cm/3,9inch - very big for where I'm from). I got scared really god and wanted to "remove" it with a broom. Needless to say that didn't turn out very well and that I lost it somewhere in the room. I was not very comfortable in the room then and started reading on what the hell that was, how it lives and so on. Slowly I got convinced that that guy was my friend that just ate bugs in my room. From there on slowly but surely I got into spiders. Really helped to get a book about them that showed anatomy, eyes, how feeding/jumping works etc.. now I am at the "is that a spider how cute is that".

So yeah got my first jumpers (P. regius) in the spring this year and 4 tarantula slings (Mexican redknee, Mexican redleg, Curly hair and a Brazilian black, from 2-4cm in body size - 0,8inch-1,6inch) yesterday at an expo. I don't feel comfortable enough to start handling them but damn they really be looking fine and interesting with their behavior :)

I know I am probably preaching to the choir but if you want someone to get rid of arachnophobia get them a jumper!

Through the years, I've found most of my friends or family have a bigger issue with my snakes vs my tarantulas. That's just been my personal experience.
