Most tarantulas are pet rocks. Keep him dry and u should be fine

These enclosures are almost standard here, for people who don't like plastic boxes.
You could raise the substrate at the back of the enclosure, sloping down to the front. Make sure the waterdish is not sticking out as the edges could be hazardous in combination with low levels of substrate. Maybe cushion any fall by adding some fake soft plants around the sides.
It's ok to leave for a week, just top off the waterdish.
