Are there any good: recommendations/suggestions on what top 10 or 20 best beginner dwarf species Ts I should know about before getting one? Because I was looking at the Brazilian Blue Beauty dwarf species and I gotta say those are extremely beautiful. And also the Pumpkin Patch one as well. But can I get your thoughts on which ones are the best for beginner hobbyists like myself? And when you do can you weigh the pros and cons for me? Because I want to be prepared when I get one. Thank you

Hi
I am a so called dwarf tarantula lover too.
They are beautiful animals despite not getting huge. The only downside I can think of is that most are quite skittish and bolty. The one you mentioned (Dolichothele diamantinensis) is one of the fastest one in my collection even as slings and they only get faster as they grow.
That makes them less than ideal for beginners.
Apart from speed there are not any other downsides I can think of.
If you provide good housing(you want enclosure that allows access without taking the whole lid off )and use safe rehousing practices you will be ok.
Regards Konstantin

So Brazilian blue beauties aren’t quite ideal for beginners is that correct? But in your opinion what are ideal for beginners? Because I’ve heard that the Pumpkin Patch & E. Sp red, the Trinidadian olive and gold were best beginner species if I’m not mistaken. But thank you for telling me about this

Hi

from the once you mentioned only the (Homoeomma chilensis =E. sp red) is not very fast and skittish but they are very rare to find.
There is also the thing that every individual will behave differently from each other and even temperament will vary between moults of same individual so you may end up with an angel or a devil.Noone can tell you how it will go.
Also most dwarf species slings while they grow fast are extremely small and for new keeper that can be source of a lot of anxiety so try to get them well started(1cm +) if you can
Regards Konstantin

The one you mentioned are fairly hardy, but as mentioned quick. I’ve had zero issues with my two slings and great eaters.

Some others I have that I think most could raise with little issues are;

Hommeomma sp.
Pseudhapalopus sp.
Theraphaphosimae sp. panama
Bonnetina cyaneifemur

Just note slings are super tiny. Totally doable, just intimidating. They are pricey, but so worth it.

Now you’re just getting me excited but yes for sure the Homoeomma Chilensis Sp Red is something I’ll most definitely look into if I want a dwarf species. And hopefully some other ones as well. But yes you’re absolutely right the 1 cm / sling would be wonderful. I’ll check my research on those HC sp red Ts in the morning and read all that I can about it. Before getting one. And yes those are extremely rare to find but hopefully I can find one

Its not my intention to discourage you from getting the others. They are awesome tarantulas too.
If you do your research and prepare they all are manageable

I will take your word for it, and if these four dwarf species are something you recommended then I am sure that I’ll look into these ones as well. But don’t worry tarantulas (most but not all) are always intimidating. But yes I’ll look into these ones in the morning and hopefully pick out which one that I’ll get along with the most. Depending on their temperament. Don’t want any of them in a threat pose. But that’s something I will doubt (maybe) but as I said before I’ll look into these as you recommended and weigh my options for sure. Thank you so much for letting me know I really appreciate it

I have a Homoeomma sp. gold. Sp. Red are hard to find. Still an amazing species all around.

you didn’t discourage me at all. Believe me. You have done an excellent job of providing the information that I need in order to know what I’m planning on getting next. I’ll check my options and weigh the pros and cons. I want something that’s 3cm-5cm nothing bigger than that.

The one you mentioned in your initial post is called a Dolichothele diamantinensis. Most likely of the bunch to throw a threat pose as they mature.

I was just looking at a Incei sp Gold but I have never seen or noticed what a H. Sp gold looks like. It sounds amazing coming from you. I’ll most definitely look into H. Sp gold for sure.

someone just told me this on a FB group post. Even though they’re extremely beautiful. They’ll do a threat pose so-just be weary of that is what they’ve told me

Incei is now Neoholothele, but you will still find them commonly referenced as Incei on sites. Super fast, I have two slings. Brave as all get out, but haven’t had a threat pose yet....plenty of jump scares though. Great eaters. Con is short life span compared to others, but still a worthy T.

I don’t mind the short lifespan at all. If they’re worthy of getting as a pet then hearing it from you esp sounds like a dream come true. And that’s what I actually want a dwarf tarantula that’s actually a great eater. I actually want to see some action. As soon as you place the food in their enclosure bam, snatches it up and eats it right before your very eyes sounds amazing

By the way, check out the classified section on here if you haven’t already. If your on a mobile phone flip your phone to landscape and you can’t miss It. Great sellers with some competitive prices. A few out in FL as well.

Look up some of the species on YouTube, it’ll give you a sense of how they look. A lot of care info is subpar, but always fun to just Look at T’s.

Keep is posted on what you get.

the fourth dwarf tarantula species you gave me: theraphosinae sp panama is something I’m really looking into. I’ve never in my life seen a tarantula so extremely beautiful such as that. And that’s one I’m most definitely going to research on in the morning. And I owe it all to you. Thank you so much. You’ve been wonderful. That and I’m going to look this species up on YouTube for sure and everything about it. Once again thank you

Neoholothele won’t let you down And super affordable out of all of them. There’s two common kinds, olive and gold. It’s a color morph, both can come from the same egg sack.

They are hardy, will burrow as slings but as they mature they will web like crazy. They fly at their prey, top notch entertainment right there. Super fast so just hold onto your shorts. Injabe never had one fly out of the enclosure, but when you see the speed when they take down their prey you could see how they could.

oh yeah. I’m going to look at the gold one for sure and the lava dwarf tarantula as well. Was thinking about getting one now I’m going to get two for sure. And if I ever come across a HC sp red I’ll also get that as well.

man. I’m going to get one for sure. Because the red and black is stunning. It’s like a display T where you can just show it off in front of your friends and family like this is my baby right here. You can stare but you can’t touch because that’s my job lol
