Just wanted to chime in with some lifespan info- I recently spoke to someone who has bred diadema for years, who believes captive lifespan could extend as long as two decades. He hasn’t had any truly die of old age and has specimens that came in as early as 2011.

Idk something to do with his girlfriend. Think the real reason was he is just bored with it. Guy comes off as a real scumbag, but I'll keep taking his arthropods if he keeps giving them out lol.
Are they free, because if they arent tbh you probably shouldn't buy or else he'll just keep on continuing bad habit. I wish a guy was just giving out a whip scorpion around here though, how big is it?

That's really interesting! What does that mean "truly" die of old age, and what size did they come in at?

He’s only lost a couple to either molting issues or fighting among the males if housed together from what he says. Apparently a lot of even his older specimens came in as adults as well. This is all second hand, but I have to admit he’s been breeding multiple gens for this long so I respect his info.

You've gotten some pretty good advice so far. The container size will be okay for a little while but I'd definitely simplify the setup, and add plenty of water to the substrate. Try to upgrade the enclosure size before its next moult if possible. I agree this looks to be a Damon medius, which will get to a pretty impressive size eventually.

The Rubbermaid Brilliance cereal storage container (19.9 cup) is my go-to for larger amblypygi these days. Top-opening, crystal clear, and easy to drill or melt holes into. The height makes it ideal for their moulting needs, and it's not so huge that they feel stressed out by having a large volume of space around them, so they're less inclined to want to hide.

Yes he just gave both of them to me. Like I said he planed on killing this one.
