Does anyone have a close up photo of a tarantulas claws ? (the ones on its feet) I really need a photo of these. Help ! :confused:

Why do you need one so bad?

There is one in the tarantula keeper's guide by stan schultz if you have that.

I wanted to email the picture to a friend. I was telling him that ts have little claws on their feet, and I wanted to show a picture. I guess no one has one ! :(

Theres also a picture of claws in the T keepers guide, pg 17.
Maybe you could scan it, and send?

Actually, I should receive my copy of the TKG tomorrow, but probably won't get around to posting that pic until Monday, since dragging out my old scanner at home is a chore.

I'm still kinda suprised that just simple little hooks let them latch on to glass with no problem...

You're right for wondering about this Nick; last I heard the arachnologists still don't fully understand how they climb glass!

Yep, it ability to climb glass isn't entirely understood but according to the TKG, "it's mediated by a thin layer of water vapor on the climbing surface."

um its not the claws, but the hairs on the bottom of the tarantulas feet that let it climb glass. Correct ?:?

Actually it is likely the entire scopulae that allow it to use the layer of water vapor to climb the glass. Keep in mind though, it's still not entirely clear how it works. Just a (likely) theory.
