So if I was going to have a time machine, I'd go back over to the day I was reorganising his soil and logs because of the stupid worms I bought for his lunch had caused problems in his enclosure. They are now on the list of critters I will not be buying again because they caused this.

No sign of him anywhere 😔

Ummm. Naw. Computer to John Whorfin: That Won't Work Either.
I've had the wonderful opportunity of observing Venatoria romp about downstairs many times which happens to have 1 foot square floor tiles. 4 floor tiles per second is quite possible. Assign the variable 1 (second)=>3 FTPS (Floor Tiles Per Second) = 3 feet.
So reaching down, grabbing the towel, maneuvering it to encapsulate her is going to take about two seconds or more. So 2 seconds stoop grab and wrap = 6 feet VLD, Venatoria Location Displacement. Compare to picking up a blob of mercury with a pair of pliers. This is why cupping a Venatoria in free range mode is a study in inadequacy, and a good chance to smush it's legs.

Venatoria's 2 1/2 mph speed may not seem like much unless you're a parent coping with a toddler that just drank your Jolt.

Seems either might work with a major BUT. Take into account the scorpions built in climate extreme tolerances thanks to it's remarkable automatically adjustable metabolism. A month or two almost swimming in mud or baking in a hole at over 35 C just makes it shrug. Probably as equally feasible is inventing a time machine to dial it forwards to mating time, usually at mid to the end of summer.

You may be right. I may be crazy. -Billy Joel
It really sounds like that was very much a tried and tested method of process of elimination.
It's definitely her house now then.

I've never had an escaped scorpion so I'm actually lost at what I need to do to find him. His lunch has caused problems plenty but never him. I think my daughter is starting to feel sad that he hasn't been found yet and worrying incase he can't be found.
Is there any chance he might have got in somewhere and not be able to get out?

Possible but unlikely these creatures tend to know if they will fit or not but without pulling stuffing out of sofas and turning furniture to flat pack you will never know all you can do is set up hides and keep looking in the middle of the night with black lights.

For the last few nights, I've not slept- been doing uv nightshift trying to find him. Through the day I'm looking in the places where I think he may have reached.

Stan won't come out if your there with the black light all night try going to bed set an alarm for midnight go check, if you don't see him go bk to bed n try again at 4/5am. I can not promise this will work but its what I would do if it was me.

Well he's a funny little character because sometimes he's out through the day, sometimes he doesn't venture very far and sometimes he's highly active and all over his "home"

That is in somewhere familiar, he isn't in his viv now so will display different behaviour most likely. Vibrations he isn't used to ect will freak him out more then usually, he will be on high alert. Give the house time to go quiet n still he will probably be more brave and venture out at those times but it could take months as stated above these dudes are built for the long game so patients at this time will be your best friend.

So how long do we wait before declaring him "lost"? My daughter asked that this morning- what if we can't find him.

Idk if it was me n my son was asking I would prepare him for not finding Stan then secretly keep looking. That way if Stan does turn back up its a bonus rather then it upsetting/disappointing him over n over. Better to start to heal then keeps the wound fresh as it were. But that's just what I would do. I can't speak for others on ab.

Took me a week to find a loose s cal, sadly it died a month later of mystery causes. But they climb on walls scorpions probably do not.

Hi everyone, please help me find Stan.....I am always so careful and making sure I close Stan's enclosure every single time. Well last night I was reorganising soil and logs and apparently I had closed the doors but one door must not have been closed properly and never caught on the lock.
Obviously I came downstairs this morning and the door was ajar by less than an inch- normally I feed the goldfish then check on Stan to make sure he's OK, only this morning he was nowhere to be found. I've searched with a UV light, a lot today and through the night too (currently sat in UV torch light at 1.40am).
His enclosure has a heat mat and recently been fed. He's less than a year and never molted his skin with me yet- may have with previous owner. When he squashes in tight he's between 2-3inches but when he's wandering around he's a good 4inches.
Is it better to find him through the day or night time because I've tried both?
He's Asain forest scorpion and my very first escapee (not including the crickets).
Thanks for as much help as possible- I have 2 children so do need to find Stan.
You have goldfish? Are they also in a incorrect tank??

But on second thoughts I might swap them over.....put the fish in the scorpion tank and when I find Stan put him in where the fish were, just shake things up a bit- change of environment for them 🤷🏼‍♀️😵💫
