Get some peat moss or something.

I think the woods much better eh? Lol the log in there hahaDon't use that bark.

Yea I’ll be putting lots of substrate in thanksUse a small piece of cork bark partially buried in the substrate. Take something small and round like a pencil or paint brush handle and make a small hole leading underneath the cork batk.
Your hide must have an open bottom. T's will dig down in their burrow to find a moisture and humidity level they desire. With a closed end hide they will be deprived of this and their well being may suffer.
What the pumpkin? Could he hide in it if I bury it slightly in substrate? Or would you go natural with the log? I’ve attached a photoI think it's ugly, and not functional for me. I'd never use it.
I always use cork. With the small exception of PVC pipe, see belowWhat the pumpkin? Could he hide in it if I bury it slightly in substrate? Or would you go natural with the log? I’ve attached a photo![]()
Wicked yea I have my wooden log too which I’ll be using
The log will be fine. You can set that up as a proper hide.I think the woods much better eh? Lol the log in there haha
Yeah I’ve got some pro rep substrate really good qualityThe log will be fine. You can set that up as a proper hide.
That bark substrate is a disaster.
Don't use bark or woodchips as substrate.
Get yourself some peat or coco fiber or topsoil.
Just don't use that bag of mulch.
If you're saying the bark mulch is ok because it's reptile substrate, you're mistaken.Yeah i
Yeah I’ve got some pro rep substrate really good qualitythe logs quite big but he can hide and a kidney shaped water dish lol
it’s in the picture
Yes please don't use that bark/ wood chips, highly unsuitable for a spider. If you're saying the bark mulch is ok because it's reptile substrate, you're mistaken.
It might be fine for some reptiles but tarantulas aren't reptiles. Please take my advice and use an appropriate substrate. Do it for the spider.

using thisThe substrate you want is something like this
![]()
ProRep Coco Brick 650g
Specially designed substrate made from coconut husk Perfect for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that require a moist habitat Hold moisture to create humidity and expands to 800% in sizewww.reptiles.swelluk.com
It says for moist enclosures but you can just let it dry before adding the animal and it will be fine. It's cheap, makes a soil that the spider can dig in and is free from pests and chemicals.
It's cool, I dont think tarantulas care about decoration, it's about what you like, even dare I say, a plastic skull.eet their needs, and their content : )Hey all
so I’ve decided to use this as his hideout lol pretty cool right?
I wanted something different and spooky
The new hideout
I don't understand your answer quite well, but please do not buy tarantula specific substrates... They are basically topsoil but at much higher price...Using this
