This statement is very disappointing to read. What kind of conflicting views could there possibly be? Tarantulas, like all other cold blooded animals, can and do thermoregulate just fine in order to maintain homeostasis. If they couldn't thermoregulate they would have all killed themselves long before people appeared on the planet. There is plenty of credible and authoritative publications describing it both in wild tarantulas as well as in controlled laboratory settings. If tarantulas are dying of over heating in captivity, then there is something wrong with how they are being cared for or something wrong with the tarantula. You'll read conflicting views on their ability to thermoregulate themselves. With reptiles, those concerns never seem to exist.
It disappoints me too and I'm glad that you see things my way. It's here on Arachnoboards that I read those conflicting views. Perhaps you should address those who repeatedly perpetuate misinformation about supplemental heat. This statement is very disappointing to read. What kind of conflicting views could there possibly be? Yeah me too. I have 4 identical set ups for some of my AF blondi. Each given a ping pong ball. None had been paired previously to the ping pong ball being placed in the tank, and luckily for me, the only one that interacted was the one with the cameraLol..curious if it thought it was an egg sack or a food item.
I hope your experiment goes well. That's exactly what I did. Ping pong balls mentioned so straight on the buy it now button. Ha ha.Lol, I bought some for my Ts last night. I need to go pick them up at the Amazon locker tomorrow.
