I would just get one of the 40 watt heat wave IR heat lamps(they are ceramic and emit only infared light and they last for years) from Exo Terra. I would mount the lamp on a telescoping fixture in case you need to adjust the distace from the terrarium. You'll have to monitor the temps for several days to make sure it's keeping the correct temps in the terrarium. At night, I would advise a temp drop. This can be done by adjusting the lamp away from the terrarium(or if there is a natural drop of temps in your house, that would probably suffice). Even on the 40 watt, the ceramic itself gets really hot, so never let it touch any part of the terrarium-it will melt any plastic and/or could cause the glass to crack or shatter.

Yea it acts as the moon, but it'll still pull humidity out. It's not generally considered a heat bulb as well.

But for instance, Michiel, do you heat all your scorpions enclosures single, or do you keep the room at the temperature?
Hi Ecstasy,

you can see my "set up" here:

As you can see I use heating cables for the cupboards and ordinary red bulbs for the terrariums...

PS. I was of course joking in my last post. There is no such thing as a "Exo Terra special nightglow/ gamma ray Hadogenes species bulb"!! :) :)

I didn't tak the hadogenes bulb thing serious, but they really do have a nightglow bulb, though its like $10.

I used to actually use that bulb in my room to give it a moonish look at night, Though I had a higher wattage one and I mounted it on the ceiling, well hung the lamp.

I actually keep the room with my inverts at 82°F. I blocked off the a/c vent.

It gives an awesome glow which is great, but I like hanging from the ceiling because the look is great.

i used that blue version for my snakes. the ball python i had kept breaking it :wall: i'm talking once a month. petsmart has a "90 day" policy on their bulbs, and i held them to it.

I never knew they had a policy on their bulbs, great to know. The bulb is great for helping raise the temp slightly in the room, if you get a higher wattage of the bulb anyways.
