For those interested this is how you tell the difference between a male & female tarantula using the molt.
( some people can tell the gender of some tarantulas by ventral sexing, this means they can tell the gender by just looking on the under side of a tarantula..... I can't yet lol)
Go down to the lower half of the old body and look between the UPPER book lungs (the book lungs will be the two sets of white things on both sides of the gender marker)...
The females will have a flap and the males won't, if you know someone with a microscope you can find out the genders when the Ts are at smaller sizes.
It's good to know the gender of your tarantulas so you can figure out if you want to breed them or not also to figure out if you'll have a long lived female or a male with a much shorter life span.
Also when it comes to selling tarantulas most females cost more than males especially when it comes to the harder to breed tarantulas.
Another reason to know when you have a male tarantula is because they usually don't live as long as the females do so if you're going to breed the males they need to be bred with as many females as possible of the same species.
