I'd be most worried about mechanical issues. Rupture of the abdomen or molting issues seeing how large it is. I have no idea really, just wondering. I've no experience in that regard.

:| This is the worst. He's been fine but I've stopped feeding him so I hope his Abdomen is a bit smaller in about a month IF he even makes it. But only time can tell.

I'm sure it will be fine. No real need to worry. If overfed T's were that fragile there would be a lot less people in the hobby.

Ah. You most deff got me worried about the molting part. But maybe not feeding him for a month is a good idea.

I've received some heinously overfed juveniles in my years as a keeper and they've all moulted without issue.

Lately I have been thinking about just how over fed captive spiders seem to be. There’s some videos online where it is almost desirable to have a super plump tarantula, which encourages people to over feed. I can almost guarantee that a super plump tarantula is an rarity in nature

While its completely pointless to feed on a massively heavy feeding schedule, even for a sling....its nothing that will be unhealthy or harmful for a young t.

But you can feed on a way lighter schedule and still maintain max growth rates....heavy feeding schedules simply lead to long fasting periods, periods of inactivity or being burrowed away for long periods.

yeah that’s probably where it comes from, and the idea that if they feed it it will grow faster. But it’s probably the opposite. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you state this as well.

Exactly!! But that’s not the case in pictures of captive tarantulas

There's only 1 article out there I've ever run across which scientifically examined T eating in the lab. They examined how many calories were necessary for a T to intake in order to grow.

Really? Not even if they are hungry?? And how did you arrive at 3x a week, did you flip a coin or roll a die and 3 popped up? Why not 1 or 4x a week.....

Thats what I would do, and 3 times a week might be a little too much in my opinion, especially depending on how big they prey you are feeding, idk. For me I feed only 1-2 times a week for slings. I mean i dont feed anything 3 times a week.

I mean I’m talking about judging from the size of his tarantulas abdomen 2-3 times is too much.
I’m really not tying to fight man.
im just comparing this to how tarantulas are in the wild and the fact that they are opportunistic and that they may eat for purposes other than human “hunger”.

Im a she thanks.But thats still implying 3 is "way to much" to Feed a T. But I feed them everytime they're hungry which is about 3 times out of the week. Id try to feed it more but just shows no intrest to the food. The only sling that eats like crazy is my T.Albo, and I feed that one about 4-5 times out of the week (NOT trying to imply calender feedings) but I drop food in there almost everyday and sometimes she/he doesnt want to eat it.
