Has Arachnoboards influenced anyone to buy species they normally wouldn't?

Well two weeks ago when I decided I wanted to get back into inverts I had maybe half a dozen on my wish list, tops.

After reading a couple 'what should I get' threads and googling every genus/species I didn't recognize, my list is up over 30 now.

Avicularia. Had one or two but seeing the pics and difficulties people had with them made me want em all.

I've yet to care about Harpactira, G pulchra, or A genic

P. Sazamai come to mind... I saw some posts about it and now I'm stuck searching the online dealers for one. I'm going to a expo in a couple weeks and hopefully I can get my Sazamai. If not a P. Cambridgei or Irminia. Possibly a phormictipus species Idk we shall see:bookworm:.

You know, there used to be species that I'd see and say nope, not for me. I used to think this with Brachypelma, Aphonopelma, and Grammastola. Now, however, after seeing species like B.Bohemi, G.Pulchra, and A.Anax, I'm like maybe my collection may have a little space for these. I swear Arachnoboards has been a bad influence on me. I'm contaminating my old world army with new world terrestrials. Has this, or anything like this happened to anyone else?

I swear to Cthulhu, I need to break free. If not I may start collecting Euathlus and Hapalopus....

Definitely like I can't believe I brought THREE bracky slings and I brought some other slow growing ones I'm mad my self for getting but no more unless it's a pulchra....Fast growers only lol

Is this only for tarantulas? No.
If it is for all animals on this board? Definitely yes. I never wanted to own scorpions, now I have seven tiny Euscorpius in three different species :). And I have some other species on a wishlist.
And I have millipedes .

I dove head first into keeping scorpions recently and this board is a contributor. I love the hotter species, all that anger. Scorps are awesome. I have a bunch coming in the next couple weeks.
Also without this board, there would be way less fossorials, I would probably never bought an Asian tarantula, an H mac, or an OBT.

This site doesn't tempt me nearly as much as my Instagram feed does. I use it exclusively to post and look at pictures of tarantulas. It's a non-stop stream of beautiful Ts.

No, dealer price lists combined with research has influenced me to branch out into other genera that I have not kept before.

Not exactly. Its sparked interest in a couple genera (Grammostola and Brachypelma specifically), but hasnt convinced me to like anything ive decided i don't. Neither genus has made it to a priority spot on the list, but if i found a good deal and had the space, id probably get them.

Never had any interest in avics but after all the pictures and posts I've read, I picked one up.

I couldn't really see the appeal of P cambridgei - I mean it's just a well camouflaged green-grey T. But they always come highly recommended, especially compared to P irminia which I've long admired. Picked up 'Steve' (sex unknown) this weekend and I'm totally in love.

Yes and as of even yesterday.. I've always wanted a green tarantula. There are not many. Even when you google green tarantula you pretty much get only the GBB. There was a post I looked at just the other day Tarantulas by color. I think it listed 2 green T's. One of them didn't look green to me at all. The other, P. rufilata! Fell in love immediately! I'm going to assume it's like my P. metallica where the colors shine best in the light, but I don't care. Had to get one, and will keep getting one until I get a female! My rufilata is coming next week!

Yeah, a lot of people who come here with questions about their first T, which happens to be an OW, go on to buy OBTs just to show y'all they can.

this has definitely happened with me.
when i first started, i had started with a A. geniculata and a B. Albopilosum.

I "knew" for sure at that time that i would only stick with a few select terrestrial New worlds of the Brachypelma/Acanthoscurria/aphonopelma and a few other genus. at the time i was More interested By far in the Larger species of New worlds. i had huge aspirations to own Lasiodora parahybana's, T. Stirmi's and T. Blondi's.

i was convinced at the time that OW's were not for me and wanted nothing to do with things like OBT's, Pokies and such, solely based on some of their reputations.

After spending some time here and with the T's i had, i quickly started to change my mind on what i initially thought. we branched out, tried out a A. Avicularia and a L. Parahybana. ended up getting a E. Pachypus after that and almost immediately Fell in love with OW's and baboons.

now a few years later, i happily own 46 T's with 27 unique species, ranging everywhere from OBT's to H. Sp columbia,
Heteroscodra Maculata,
Thrigmopoeus Insignis, Psalmopoeus Cambridgei, Psalmopoeus Irminia, Chilobrachys Huahini, heterothele Villosella, and so many more.

i would have never have bothered with OW's and arboreals if it had not been for all the different posts and threads on here. i learned a lot from people about OW's, their temperaments, their attitudes and looks.

oh yea, and dwarf species! i didn't even know these excited until i came to arachnoboards, and now i literally want ALL of them haha.
