Thanks a lot!! And also thanks to everyone else for helping ; )
I don’t purport to be an expert by any means, but this has always seemed like a sign of a problem to me. My guess in his behavior was that he had used his burrow as a trash bin, then covered it up and got grumpy about it. Every rehouse was the same. Dig burrow/make turret, hang out happy for awhile, cover burrow, hang out on the wall grumpy.

Definitely makes me like this tarantlula more. I love falling in affection for a new type after reading what people are experiencing.

perhaps the top chilling behavior is related to the enclosure becoming the burrow. And or, depending on air flow and house climate, the evaporation of water in the enclosure.

Switch to dry/deep sub, add more ventilation, and a water dish.
Agreed. I've found this species really doesn't care for anything but dry substrate , in my limited experience with them. They grow slower than other African species too.

But I will also add since it's been getting warmer out so far this summer it's very common for me to look at my enclosures and see a lot of spiders out and about hanging out above ground or even on the sides of enclosures like yours is. My spider room is normally like 66 at nite, 72ish during the day most of the winter. Now it's probably like 73-74deg at nite and getting up to low 80s during the warmest time of the day. It may get a little warmer as summer goes on. Around late afternoon and on, if I go into the room I see many out hanging out on the sides. I assume it's because they're enjoying the heat
