I hope there wasn't a hefty premium on the beautiful girl because of the species. Perhaps I'm wrong, as well, but maybe one of the others can weigh in.AphonopelmaTx said:- Ventral side of spermatheca smooth/ without striations (striations present in B. smithi)
- Spermathecal baseplates elliptical (subtriangular in B. smithi)
- Cheliceral bands present (not present in B. smithi)
First off, this is exactly what I love to see. Somebody doing their research, focusing on the finer details that help describe a species, and then helping others better understand by including knowledge, references, and experience. This is how we all learn, and I am grateful for your post. It reflects a positive dialogue of someone who has gone above the norm of learning how to distinguish between species and then using that knowledge to help others in a constructive manner.Based on this thread posted recently by Jose (@Exoskeleton Invertebrates), it appears to be B. hamorii. There are further diagnostic features described by @AphonopelmaTX in this post which is taken from the paper describing the species revision.

The exporter is only able to sell captive born out of Mexico. Justin “YellowBrickRoad” does have a Brachypelma smithi. I know that there are times that is hard for people to ID a certain tarantula cause of the way some photos appear. I understand that some photos don’t appear crystal clear like my photos but I can assure you that Justin specimen is smithi. I know I’m the one who encourage Justin to get one and whom to get the female from.Very interesting! The locality she was collected from will give good information as well, since she is wild caught.
I have no reason to doubt the information you were provided.

@YellowBrickRoad thats cool that you finally got one. As you know I now have five females that my male will be getting it on with when he matures. At least I nope he gets busy with at least one of the females.
