The only other thing I can think of is that it's too dry... it's been very dry since we got here. But we also came from the desert so it shouldn't be too much of a change for him. And better climate control in general in this house.
Anything is worth a shot try overflowing the water dish n see if he gravitates towards it.

I've tried that. :( even tried dropped water right next to his mouth - he doesn't seem interested.

Try wetting part of the dirt so it can sit there maybe ? Like this my lp likes the wet spot . Even though most the continent is dry . Will it drink from the water dish ? IMG_1857.jpeg

Isn't water then as if your t was thirsty he would drink. Yer think I stand by my original suggestion of rip it all out n start again 🤷🏻‍♀️ as I said before with no other option left it's what I would do.

Just caught him doing it again.... he wasn't grooming. Just sitting still. After I took these photos he uncurled into a relaxed position (limbs outstretched, flat).... I don't know what's going on! He just recently molted so I don't think he's in premolt... He doesn't seem interested in drinking. He's NEVER done this kind of behavior until we moved. That's why I'm concerned it's something about the environment.

Is that coco husk I see on the top of your substrate?

Also what are you using for main substrate?

I've moved him to a brand new enclosure - new sub; new water dish; new everything. He's obviously stressed right now being in a new space but I haven't noticed him curling.
I'll let you guys know how things go.

That was a mix of reptisoil and a little bit of coco husk. Although in the new enclosure I did reptisoil only. I never had any problems with the coco husk (no mold or anything) but I'd like to move away from it going forward.

I wouldn't recommend using coco husk on top of substrate.

I've handled coco husk and came away with splinters. It's also very abrasive.

Your tarantula after looking at all the photos looks healthy. However what you witnessed with it may be due to what your T is walking on.

It could be just that simple. Since you rehoused it without using coco husk how is your T doing now?

You’re supposed to use coco fiber like eco earth or similar. Not coco husks whatever that is .. reptisoil seems popular I have to try it someday . Get pictures of the enclosure please .

Just wanted to update everyone - he seems to be doing better! I have him in a large critter keeper temporarily to see how he does. I'll build out a better enclosure once I'm sure he's stabilized. He's been a lot less skittish and no curling. Hopefully he's on the mend!! I'll keep this thread posted if anything changes.

That's better....

Could of been the coco husk it didn't like.

Nonetheless your T is in a better setup.

Neat water dish what is it ? Wish my l klugi would settle down and be happy like that .. guess it can take weeks to get used to new tanks . Can you get a pic to see how deep the sub is ? Eventually ..

I found that water dish at my local pet store in the hermit crab section haha it was the only water dish they had that would work. Just temporary

The sub is about 5 inches deep (in his previous enclosure it was about 8 inches). He likes to dig a lot when he's in premolt but given he's not due for awhile, I figure 5 is fine.

He's definitely acting like his old self! He's generally really chill - that's why it was so concerning how skittish he was in conjunction with the curling.

Really hoping he's happy again!!
