They're 3rd instar....And yes... They were both born in hell
Maculata? I've had w/c adults when they were being imported in the late 1990's; they were the first baboon spider I bred. I've raised up slings. And I don't recall a threat pose from any of them, maybe there's was one or two 15 years ago. I keep mine pretty warm, and that would bring out their worst behavior. I don't see them as a confrontational species. Don't mess with them and you shouldn't have any issues.

OBT

My maculatas are very well behaved

I can't give an exact age for my maculatas. Only size. One has mokted once in my care. The other. 3 times. I don't know what instar they were when I received them. I'm assuming 2nd

Iheart, here's one of my regalis'. This is the smaller one. About 1.5" maybe. Was very cooperative. The bigger one was out but got spooked off by the flashlight... I should've just left the light on... It'll probably come back out... It's usually the less timid one, it has more striking leg stripes.

Very nice! I really want more pokies. I'll try to get a better picture of an h mac. My S.O said the one has been out and about nonstop and the other hes only seen its toes.

They're gonna need bigger homes soon. That'll be an experience. ;)

I knew the big guy couldn't resist coming out for a stroll!
Yeah that one has more noticeable patterns. If I could rehouse a 7.5 inch p fasciata with no problems, you'll do perfectly fine with those guys lol.

I'm not super worried... Bathtub... Catchups... Free time lol...

I've rehoused and unpacked adult OBTs so I mean... These guys shouldn't be too bad. They're just easier to lose. But that's why bathtub. :)

I've rehoused my H. mac sling too. Easy enough to literally transfer it's entire shpagnum moss home to a new enclosure with the T inside... 123 quick and done.

I know it won't always be such though.

This is true. I still get surprised by her speed. I am not looking forward to rehousing the h macs. At the same time I am looking forward to it because then I'll get to have a better look at them

Dude... I've seen vids of H. mac rehousings go smooth as silk... Or last way too long playing catch the white lightning lol.

Again... I'm ok with mine growing slowly. And I think rehousing the Poecs and the other baboons will keep me sharp for it.

Poecs are pretty easy to rehouse, nothing to worry about there.
Yea There aggression was greatly over exaggerated when I first got my pokies. They arent that hard to deal with but adults as very fast and huge. Maybe it was there venom that scared me but I still haven't got bit.

I'm not worried so much as I don't really like that game. Now catch the black lightning, that's a different story! Kidding. I'm sure my fimbriatus sling will keep me on my toes too.

I wasn't too worried about aggression. Just that they'd take off for the hills. Little guys like to run zig zag laps. So far the pokies are usually very calm, shy, patient (playing camouflage instead of retreating), or they spaz out run laps and then finally go home and hide.

The H. macs dart right home.

Neither are aggressive though. So far... I know both species could get stressed if I made a wrong move and made it feel cornered or invaded. I'm careful to give them space.

My OBTs are the challenge in aggression. And I've been lucky there too. My big girl has never given me,a threat. And I've never given her reason too. I would be happy if I never saw one from her. She's in her permanent home anyways.

The little ones are only a pain because I feel like they are constantly as close as possible to escape as can be. I don't think they're quite the size to be aggressive/defensive yet.... It'll come quick though.

And patience (probably what you meant by free time). Often when I see a vid go bad, its the result of the impatient keeper trying to speed the process up more than the t likes, then boom, teleportation and the vid gets good.

I used to worry about the eventual re-house of my poec, but after dealing with irminia and cambridgei without issue, I'm really not too worried, cause those buggers can move...the key is to not give them a reason to do so IME and stay calm no matter what happens.

Yes free time and patience... Similar and not quite the same.. BOTH are needed.... One of the worst things I ever had to do was umbox my adult female OBT and house her while under the gun for work.

Luckily she's a very cooperating girl...

But yes I know to schedule all rehousings on days off. Shut off the phone... Just me and the T. And if it's not going well or there's a hiccup. They can be postponed...

Patience luckily is drilled into you in this hobby at all angles... Luckily it set in with buying the darn things too. Lol

Like I said. I'm kind of,looking forward to it. It will be good to learn from.

+1. Calm, gentle moves on your part. And if the spider starts getting wound up, put the lid back and try later. You want to stay in control at all times and that's to do with a spider fearing for it's life.
