This is my most recent and last purchase, since I will be hitting the road soon.

It was labeled Grophus sp., and I think its a G. grandieri. What do you think?

Thanks!, ryan

Yup! That's a Grosphus grandiDIERI! I love the two I have. The male is my favorite of all my scorps. I think the huge telson and the svelte
body make for a very attractive aesthetic. I've heard they are arrid and I keep mine dry and generally keep a small water dish. There was some misinformation stating they are to be kept like jacksoni. This is very wrong. Enjoy and take more pics! I think yours looks female.

Great pics, great species...I'm getting a trio of these soon and very much look forward to working with them.

Mr. Awesome, you're saying to keep them on the dry side. Like how dry...desert dry, medium dry? Is sand as a substrate good enough? Whatever you could share would be great so I can make them happy.

I got 6 babies. So a future breeding project for sure, This genus is way under represented in the US. I'd love to get G limbatus. That's near the top of my wish list.

Mine are on desert sand and are kept in a room that's about 83 degrees. I mist weekly and they are hardy eaters. I have some on my YouTube vids so check 'em out' link is down below.

Yes, these are G.grandidieri. There is no other species in the genus Grosphus, with a blackish coloration and that large size.

Thanks for everyones replies! I was looking forward to breeding these, but it looks like I have to hit the road for a while. Back to a backpack. Hopefully things will go well, and I can get a video camera. Then I will make some nice videos of wild scorps for everyone. Thanks again, ~r
