Hi i paired my New river rust rumps up about 3 weeks ago and it was successful.I saw some good insertions. Because this is my first breeding attempt i was wondering if these are signs my female might be gravid. She defiantly eats loads more and hardly leaves any left overs, She does look plumper, She is also much more defensive, Ive noticed she likes moving her substrate around and her water bowl and has webbed on the floor of her enclosure. You recon these could be signs ? :alien:

Yeah, all mine have shown similar behavior when gravid. The most obvious signs for me have been the enlarged abdomen (which will look a bit different than a well fed tarantula; it will look more round), and of course "candling" yellow.

To candle, basically just shine a powerful LED flashlight directly under her abdomen, or from the side. This is best accomplished if/when she is on the glass/plastic side of an enclosure, in a clear glass, or something similar that gives you a good, clear view. Anyway, if it appears yellow inside, then she's gravid.
