Well, I got myself another one. This is a Haplopelma sp., probably an H. minax. Definitely female. Pretty big actually. I've never felt nervous around spiders until I moved this one into it's new home. My heart was racing, I mean I knew the reputation of these species as psychotic little monsters and I was envisioning it racing up my arm and biting my neck 10 times. She seems to have adjusted to her new home, I don't plan on disturbing her too much. I'm going to post a review of the store where I bought her and I don't plan on being kind.
I had read that P. irminias were aggressive and fast as lightening. I was nervous to unpack my 2.25 P. irminia sling. She wasnt bad at all. She didnt run. No bolts or speed or aggression. Either I read wrong or she is a sweety. (maybe just a good mood) Congrats on ur new babies!!

H. minax is one on my wish list, they are very hard to find.
That's really why I bought it. :D I know they're rare, and the guys didn't really know what they had (besides not really knowing how to take care of them properly). I've wanted a Haplopelma for a while, and lividiums are pretty common around here. I'm pretty sure it's H. minax, I will post some pics when I can.

I bought this T at a pet store labeled as "Thailand Black" , for a while I thought it was a minax, now not even so sure, it could be H. aureopilosum. she is very vicious, I threw a cricket at her at one time and she caught it, I luv her, I luv all asian species.

Nice spider!!! Mine decided to web herself into her tunnel, so she doesn't come out much. I will try and get pictures if and when she does! My emperor scorp has played "wide reciever" a couple times.

To be honest, I'm not even sure mine is an H. minax. It resembles minax's that I've seen in pictures. Could be an H. aureopilosum, but pictures that I've seen of them usually have heavy leg striping. I've ruled out H. schmidti because they usually have pronounced "tiger striping" on their abdomens, my spider has an unmarked black/brown abdomen.

I've decided to name her "Shelob".
