Devildoll,

You can keep them as you would H.arizonensis or H.spadix. I have seen deceased ones at El Mirage dry lakebed in southern California. I know they range into southern Nevada where yours was most likely collected. They may also make it into western Utah and NW Arizona.

Ideal temps would be 80-90 day temps and cooler nights with a 2-3 month cooler period of 10-15 deg lower at during the day in the winter. You can mist lightly once or twice a month and have a water dish that is filled weekly.

Here is a pic of their habitat at El mirage:

What is the common name for this species and how toxic is its venom?

Devildoll,
Would it ever! My H. arizonensis is a definite male. Shortly after I got it from mebebraz, I had a chance to sex it. I threw some cricks in, and he got excited, chasing them. I was able to clearly see his rather LARGE pectines..(Hmmmm..did I just make a thinly veiled sexual comment?!) :D
Peace,
Gillian

Gillian,

I think by pointing your comment out that would tend to negate any thin veiling that remained. :D

It is now quite obvious that you have a pectine fetish. =D

Cool, great pic, is that yours or are you showing what it looks like? Thanks,

Jey Kug,
Doesn't that Anuroctonus look a lot like the ones in the acrylic (in the gift shop) at the butterfly pavillion?

Hmmm...come to think of it there was one...maybe two that had wide palps like that. The rest were much narrower that the others or the above Anuroctonus phaiodactylus. The A.phaiodactylus is pretty distinct looking for US/Mexico scorps; I would have thought I would have noticed if the ones at the Butterfly Pavillion we saw were them....then again I forgot to look at one of the key and simplest ID clues when ID'ing the C.vittatus that day. I'll have to take a closer look next time.
