priZZ is right, it may very well be P. pederseni.

If you don't have much experience with this genus, I highly recommend that you refrain from holding your new T. This genus is known for their speed and nasty bite when they feel threatened.

Poecilotheria pederseni, the most used common name I've seen is "Pedersen's Ornamental"
It's hard to say if you have pederseni or not because pet stores aren't always accurate.
I agree with becca that if you have never dealt with pokies before you should be careful when it comes to handling. Don't want your first experience with the genus to be a bad one!

I second what Becca said, I hope you know more about these guys than you are letting on to because this is not a T to be holding if you don't know what your doing...

his avatar pic looks like he has a blondie on his back, so I would assume he knows how to handle them. Why does everyone jump to conclusions so quickly?

The avatar pic shows irresponsibility. ;) That isn't representative of safe handling...

And, the last time I checked, T. blondi was quite different than any pokie...

I am all for handling and will be first in line to say that pokies defensiveness is very much over hyped that being said they still have pretty strong venom are quick as hell and deserve there respect you should have a feel for them before trying to handle them, but when you don't even know what a pederseni is? They may not be the most common pokie but if you know about pokies you should know what a pederseni is...

Look at the arrogance on this thread =P
Which arrogance? People just try to say don't handle Your Ts too easy because I could be bad for You (if You get bit) or for the T also (if You drop it). So why is that arrogance?

By posting questions and doing research on a forum? Yes - it's a very good way to learn! :D

By handling them before you've done the research and have experience with the genus? No. ;)

Although I don't personally handle any of my Ts, I've seen people handle many pokies, but they typically have experience with them and are a decent judge of what type of behaviors are most likely to occur. No one is trying to slam you for handling it, but cautioning you as to what could happen and warning you about the generalized behaviors of this genus.

i have read a lot about them and i think the best way to get experience in handling them is to hold them.TBH i probably will not hold it again until i have to change tanks,it was very quick and would hate it to get hurt.

thx again for replys

You said you handle all of your T's? How many times have you been bitten?
