Oh, what a good name, Holley! Wish I'd thought of that! A truly magnificent vagans. How long have you had her?

thanks all!
Joy, I see you are familiar with Sleeping Beauty as well ;)
I'm not sure I spelled her name right, but she is a beautiful, but unpredictable T....LOL
I got her on the 14th of March, from Buck Tedrow, at just under 3.5". She is CB, and absolutely stunning. A complete pig, she will eat anything, anytime. Even knowing the growth rate of B vagans compared to other Brachys, I was worried that I had a male (since I share the same affliction you do!). But molt before last, I sexed her as a female, and with this last molt, I am certain she is mature. I tried posting on the classifieds about a male for her, but I can't find one.
She is an awesome spider!

:) my little piggy is growing fast too:) though im still waiting for the return of my cam so i can take n post pics. interesting to watch my b.vagans hunting at times:cool: she/he if the cricket is behind a plant will use one of her front legs to scoop the thing out and the other day she was after a cric that was no more than a peanut would be to us , it was staying very still so she gingerly used her front leg to probe the ground around where the cric was to get a reaction , then pounced:} def interesting little Ts

She sure is georgeous. You caught the velvety blackness really well. Good luck finding a male for her - I'll be sure to ask the guy I know here if he's got one for you. He is a vender from the local reptile show who started breeding about a year and a half ago.

That says it all. She's stunning. Now I'm really excited about my 1/2" sling.
Their slow growers, right?

Mr T..
not nearly as slow as other Brachypelma...here is her growth chart:

purchase 3-14-02 at approx 3.25"
molted 4-21-02 to approx 4.25"
molted 10-18-02 to mature female (I'm guessing) at somewhat between 5-6"
that seems lightening fast for a Brachypelma!

I raised a 1/4" sling up to about 3.5" in approx. 4.5 months. Kept it at about 75 - 80 degrees and fed it every day.
