Yea, be careful ;) haha. If you give her space, she won't be defensive towards you and strike. When putting her into her new enclosure, I recommend unpacking her slightly, and letting her do most of the work. Also, if you're lucky, it won't be like my OBT... I see her once every four months.. haha

Just always expect your OBT to be defensive and you'll never be surprised, haha. It's very cool that they're such a cheap species since they're so gorgeous. Our slings are showing some awesome coloration at about an inch.

I think mine (3.5 - 4") missed its anger management session yesterday, was out all day which usually prompts me to throw a cricket in, which I did and also topped the water dish up - the whole time the daft spider was almost falling over backwards with rage :D Not often that it's thrown a full blown show of hate, though it does sometimes make a leap at the side of the tub in an attempt to impersonate an alien face hugger when I look in, but last night it was just plain angry about something.

I got mine about 6 weeks ago, an adult female now around 5" and stunning to look at, This was my first "defensive" T, although I've not found her to be any where near as bad as I expected. Even re-housing was not a huge drama, my 16 year old Son was standing by ready with a large catch pot but thankfully it was not needed. I now have her in an Exo-Terra Medium terranium which has decent height and a small flap on top to open for food and watering. I have made her a hide using a selection of small natural sun-bleached logs and provided around 4" of substrate in case of burrowing and a water bowl at one end. I find that she will mostly hide inside the logs and webbing, and come half out of the little hole at the top of her hide when hungry, and occasionally I catch her out for a wander during the evenings. You will not be dissapointed with this species. They look great, web tons, always moving things around and very good feeders. If you respect them, know what they are capable of, and generally leave them alone and not provoke them into threat poses for the hell of it like you see on you-tube etc. I'm sure you will be fine. I too had a few reservations about getting one, but I think a little caution is a good thing when starting out with OW species, and glad I took the plunge. I have since got a Pokie, and now considering a few more...

Like everyone has said, just take your time, be well prep'd and you'll not go far wrong. They're a lovely species, if a touch psycho :D

Keep us posted mate, & welcome to the OBT club. Just make sure you give her a decent place to hide in your set up and a little space, she will soon make it her own.

If she's that big she probably won't get much bigger.

I can't wait to hear some stories from this one! What a great combined plunge! A Poeci and OBT ha! I am loving that.
